So Tom Tancredo was invited by UNC to give a talk about illegal immigration, and specifically why it’s wrong to allow illegal immigrants to receive in-state tuition rates. Before he was really allowed to say much of anything, though, the above protest broke out. Police had to use tasers and pepper spray, because the wack-job protestors refused to let him be heard. You’ll notice the two “girls” who pull the banner in front of him that says, “No One Is Illegal.” How completely freaking moronic is that? These lunatics are more interested in not hurting the feeeeelings of ILLEGAL immigrants than they are allowing their fellow legal citizens the opportunity to hear someone exercise their right to free speech. Unbelievable.
I am completely baffled by people who are FOR illegal immigration. That makes no sense whatsoever. It’s ILLEGAL, for starters, and it cheapens the efforts of every law-abiding person who comes to this country honestly and with integrity and an appreciation for our legal system, and who works hard to gain their citizenship. How can anyone be FOR illegal immigration, unless they’re just completely batcrap crazy or profoundly stupid? Seriously. I want to know.
The UNC Chancellor released the following statement after the incident: “We’re very sorry that former Congressman Tancredo wasn’t able to speak. We pride ourselves on being a place where all points of view can be expressed and heard, so I’m disappointed that didn’t happen tonight. I think our public safety officer appropriately handled a difficult situation.”
