Obama Isn’t Very Good At The Whole Anti-Terrorism Thing

The great Charles Krauthammer wrote an article for the WP today, which should have the MSM flipping the freak out about how completely unsafe we are as a nation.  More likely, however, is that the MSM will totally ignore this story.

It’s a pretty devastating report, really.

We all know the back-story about Abdulmutallab.  Recently though, it’s come to light that he was only interrogated for 50 minutes before being given the right to remain silent (which, he obviously jumped on).  And worse, the decision to Mirandize him was made without consulting any of the following:

(1) the secretary of defense
(2) the secretary of homeland security
(3) the director of the FBI
(4) the director of the National Counterterrorism Center
(5) the director of national intelligence (DNI).

CK points out that Obama’s own DNI, Dennis Blair,  said Abdulmutallab should have been interrogated by the “High Value Detainee Interrogation Group (HIG)”.  The HIG was established late last summer (several months after Obama executive-ordered the Bush/Cheney interrogation procedures to be axed).

So, Dennis, what gives?  Why WASN’T Abdulmutallab interrogated by the HIG?  Well, the first excuse was that apparently the HIG had only been considered for use abroad.  Because who’d have ever thought we’d get attacked on our own soil? (snort)

But THEN it turned out that HIG wasn’t involved because it STILL DOES NOT ACTUALLY EXIST.   Must have slipped Obama’s mind what with all those date nights and golf games and what not.

And then of course there’s the whole KSM trial in NYC.  Recently, six senators (representing both GOP and Democrats and Lieberman the Independent) sent a letter to Eric Holder to reverse that decision.  And further, Senator Lindsey Graham and Rep. Frank Wolf plan to introduce a bill which blocks funding for the trial, which is kinda awesome because it’ll show, vote by vote, who believes terrorists should be treated like terrorists and who believes they should be treated like criminal defendants.  This is BRILLIANT.

What’s shameful is that it has to come to that.  It’s pathetic that people have to Actually Point Out to this administration that terrorists don’t deserve the same rights as citizens of this country.

As always, CK nails it.

Guantanamo Bay and Resort – Sign Me Up.

What does a girl have to do to get some R&R time with three square meals, and a nice warm bed to sleep in, and some art therapy? I’m curious, because I’m 9 months pregnant, working two jobs, and the holidays have downright exhausted me, you guys. Some abstract fingerpainting sounds pretty damn relaxing to me right now.

Oh wait – I’d have to become a terrorist and kill a bunch of innocent people to get myself put into Guantanamo Resort and Bay for a while to get this kind of “treatment.”

It appears that two of the four plotters of the Northwest Airlines attempted bombing were released from Guantanamo, and – I hope you all are sitting down for this one – the “art therapy rehabilitation program” they underwent didn’t work. They still want us American yahoos to die painful deaths. Well, holy crap.

In fact, “Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the Northwest bombing in a Monday statement that vowed more attacks on Americans.”

I for one am shocked. My feelings are hurt. I mean, how can art therapy not help? You know what they should’ve done instead? Lavender therapy. I heard that usually does the trick to make a cold-blooded psychopathic wackjob do a complete 180.

But you’re right, Mr. President. That place is terrible. We should shut it down and release a bunch of those wackjobs, as it’s just awful what they have to go through there – all that paper mache exposure and the watercolors and pottery-making. It’s downright cruel.

GAWD.

Hey Congressional Democrats! Here’s a Brilliant Idea: Let’s Beat Up The People Who Keep Us Safe!

SP32-20090618-195103

This cartoon used to be funny because it was true.  Now?  Well, it appears that Congress can’t let this one go.

According to this article, the CIA had some top-secret, highly-classified effort “to carry out a 2001 presidential authorization to capture or kill al Qaeda operatives, according to former intelligence officials familiar with the matter.”

I, for one, remember exactly where I was when the planes hit those towers in New York City, and I remember how I felt when I learned that 3000+ people were killed that day – BY TERRORISTS.  I was scared.  And pissed off.

So, when Congressional Democrats get their proverbial panties in a wad because our government was trying to kill the people who brutally murdered thousands of us on our native soil – IN A TIME OF WAR – I get a little peeved. First it was Pelosi, screaming about how the CIA lied about waterboarding, and now this crap.  Hello, witch hunt.

How bad of an idea is this? And how nuts are the Congressional Democrats in thinking that the best thing to do right now is to question the CIA’s motives in wanting to kill Al Qaeda operatives? With all the stuff we have going on in our country and with Obama’s idea of national security being a frat-buddy handshake and lavender-scented pillows with therapy – how in the world is this helping us be safe?

Am I the only one that actually values my safety as an American citizen?  Am I the only one who supports my country taking just a bit of the tax money I fork over every month – albeit for something different than saving mice, of course – to keep our national security somewhat of a priority? Am I the only one who believes that by beating up the CIA, we’re not only eroding our national security – much to the glee of those that hate us – but we’re making ourselves personally responsible for any future attacks that are directed at us? We are doing this. Congressional Democrats and their holier-than-thou stance are subjecting us to future attacks with this ridiculous crap.

And, if you think there won’t be future attacks, then the Kool-Aid did a bang-up job.

The article goes on to describe the operative:

“Amid the high alert following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a small CIA unit examined the potential for targeted assassinations of al Qaeda operatives, according to the three former officials…

“It was straight out of the movies,” one of the former intelligence officials said. “It was like: Let’s kill them all.”

One former CIA official said that Cheney and Bush didn’t support the effort, and it fizzled within about six months.  Bush did, however, give the green light on the  ”capturing of several top al Qaeda leaders, and allowed officers to kill the targets if capturing proved too dangerous or risky.” Why this would be an issue in a time of WAR, I have no idea.

But, Congressional Democrats TODAY are making this an issue, of course. Because they weren’t informed about it.  Boo freakin hoo.  I guess that’s what happens when you have a slew of lawyers with $1000 suits sitting on their fat butts in Congress.  But what do I know?  I’m just a law-abiding, taxpaying citizen who wants her family to be safe from terrorist attacks.  And, if that means that my government has to do some nasty things I’m not aware of, then so be it.  In fact, if a terrorist came to my home and knocked on my door, I think I’d probably do some nasty things as well.

So go ahead and sue me, Pelosi.  Really.

What kills me is that something of this nature that happened YEARS ago is an issue, and the administration tries to make itself look like it’s so above reproach compared to the last, when in actuality, it’s the LEAST transparent administration I think I’ve ever witnessed.  It’s taking over private companies, trying to take over healthcare (and do you think there’s been transparency in THAT discussion?  Really?), gobbling up every opportunity to have power that it can.  This administration – more than any other in my life – thinks that government knows best.  That it’s above the free market and above the private citizen.  How in the hell is THAT transparency?

And, while all of this nonsense occurs, the CIA is becoming a once-highly-regarded institution that  NO ONE in their right mind will want to go work for now.  Why on earth would a smart, talented person wanting to serve the country they love want to work for the CIA these days?  Why would anyone want to put their neck out, take a risk, and do something to save thousands more from another attack – when they ultimately risk being scolded, prosecuted, and hung up to dry for it?  Yeah…..good luck with future recruitment, Barry.

I know it’s Monday, but this irritates the ever-living crap out of me.  So, go ahead and spew your defense of how Pelosi and all of her buddies are right on this, liberals.  And when we’re attacked on our own soil again sometime soon, we’ll see how you feel about these tactics…

Yeah.  I feel safe now.  Thanks again, Congressional Democrats….really.

Terrorists Apparently Have The Same Rights As American Citizens Now.

Seriously. What’s next? Are we just going to capture terrorists in war zones and take them out for coffee and a little bit of shopping?

Wait. I forgot we’re not supposed to call them terrorists anymore. If someone wants to let me know what the PC term is for terrorists now, I’d appreciate it. Totally not keeping up to speed on that.
