Yep. Donald freaking Duck.
If you’ve ever been to Disneyworld (or Disneyland, in this case) with a child, you know that you spend a LOT of time waiting in lines to hug characters. In my experience, if I didn’t wait in line with my daughter for a ridiculous amount of time to hug Pooh or Tigger or whomever, she probably wasn’t going to be hugged. So, I chose my waiting battles. And waited. A LOT.
Much to my annoyance, there were also character-union-mandated breaks, and we sometimes waited in line only to be disappointed with NOT seeing a character and waiting in line in vain for an hour or so.
Such is life at Disney. And, well, SUCH IS LIFE.
The White family (oh, the irony), is claiming that their son was discriminated against - blatantly so - by Mr. Duck. “They took their son, Ryder, to Disneyland to celebrate his birthday in December. The day was going well until Razzi White, 5, walked up to a performer in a Donald Duck costume at the park’s Main Street."
“He was sitting there with his arms open, saying, ‘Donald, Donald!” said mother Nastasia White. Nastasia claims that rather than play with her son, Donald deliberately walked away from him to play with a white baby in a stroller. The Whites said they waited patiently for their turn – long enough that even the baby’s parents urged Donald to play with Razzi – but Donald ignored them. Nastasia asked for a picture, but says Donald instead went to a young white girl on a bench and hugged her.”
Mr. Duck isn’t the only racist, it seems. Another lawsuit has been filed against Disneyland because the White Rabbit is also an accused racist. If anyone knows who the White Rabbit is, let me know. I have a 3-year old and no CLUE as to who this other fluffy racist is.
The same attorney is representing both families, because of COURSE he is. And we now live in an America where Disney characters are raaaaaaaaacist. And everyone is a victim....
At the happiest place on earth.
