In that column, I wrote about how pissed off I get when I read about the abuses of the system - and how irritating it is that people are qualifying for long term disability payments because they have problems like high blood pressure or diabetes, both of which are mostly manageable conditions that, most of the time, do not prevent someone from holding down a job.
But because there are people out there who a) didn't bother to read the post or b) do not have basic reading comprehension skills or c) take everything personally regardless of whether or not they should, we got messages back from people defending their right to disability payments. It got ridiculous enough that I even updated the post with a message at the bottom directed towards those people that basically said HELLO - the post wasn't referring to people who genuinely qualify for disability. It was directed toward people who ABUSE the system. And how that wasn't clear, I have no idea.
The same crap went on at our facebook page. One chick in particular was DEEPLY OFFENDED by my post, and blathered on and on about her own condition and how hard her life is and what a beyotch I was for even addressing the issue etc. Someone responded to her, "Did you even read the post?" and her reply, hilariously, was something along the lines of "I don't have to read it. I've read that stuff before."
Anyway, I responded to that chick on the corresponding post, and told her for the zillionth time that we were NOT referring to people with genuine disabilities, and not satisfied with my answer, she then took to our wall to, I suppose, lodge a formal complaint. That's when I got even more irritated, and yes, I'll admit I even had a little fun at her expense. You'll see what I mean.
Aaaaand that's when Sarah must have gotten to her PC to exact her EPIC KARMIC REVENGE, and promptly deleted every comment she'd ever made on our page ever. I don't blame her, because I'd be embarrassed by the comments too.
Despite her accusation, I don't feel particularly superior for adding her to our Wall of Shame - I just feel like she probably saw herself in my original post, and it hit a nerve, and she doesn't like having that mirror held up to her face. Because if there was ever a better example of "Methinks the lady dost protest too much" - I'd be hard pressed to find it.
Meanwhile, I guess we'll be waiting for Sarah's WRATH OF KARMA to befall us. Eeeeeeek!
