Awww. Poor Unions.

Written by

Guess what!  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, union membership as a percentage of the workforce has fallen to the LOWEST LEVEL EVER since the 1930s.

I don’t know about you all, but I see that as seriously awesome news.  The percentage dropped from 11.8% to 11.3%.  It makes sense, because as more and more states (like our great state of Indiana) become Right To Work states, fewer and fewer people with Actual Brains have interest in belonging to unions and paying union dues.  For all the screaming they do about being “pro-choice,” liberals sure seem to hate it when workers have the CHOICE of whether or not to belong to a money-grubbing union.  And now that Indiana workers DO have that choice, union membership has fallen by 56,000.  Whaddya know!

The other reason for the decline in membership?  Companies with big unions being forced to shut down – like Hostess.  And if you have been around COTR for awhile, I think you know what we have to say about that.  HO Hos, bitches! (If you need the history on where that phrase came from, click here.)

Meanwhile, I’m kinda loving the handy dandy data chart which shows the unions’ steady decline. Perhaps that 1%’er that liberals never dare criticize, Richard Trumka, will have to give up some of his mega salary in order to keep those Democratic party contributions going at the level he’d like.

It’s been a crap week for unions.  First, it turns out that Obama made a bunch of illegal appointments to the NLRB, and now this?
