According to this, the "first private business owner to sue the Obama administration over its contraception mandate has won a small victory in the larger battle to preserve his religious liberty."
Enter Frank O'Brien. He is the owner of O'Brien Industrial Holdings of St. Louis. His holding company operates several entities, including Christy Catalytics, Christy Industrial Services, Christy Minerals Company, and the Christy Refractories Company.
O'Brien is a small business owner who also happens to be a Roman Catholic, and his religious beliefs provide guidance for his business every day. In fact, his company's overall mission is "to make our labor a pleasing offering to the Lord while enriching our families and society." And so far, he's done a darn good job with the help of the Lord, building a successful business that employs 87 people and puts food on those families' tables every day.
O'Brien thought the HHS mandate was a crock of monkey crap - a direct infringement on his Constitutional rights. So he sued the Obama administration, and yesterday, the appeals court blocked the "implementation of the HHS mandate," which paves the way for the lawsuit to hold water and gain momentum. It's a victory for Mr. O'Brien, but it's a bigger victory for those of us that understand the ramifications of Obamacare and its complete disregard of Americans' First Amendment Constitutional rights.
"The order sends a message that the religious beliefs of employers must be respected by the government. We have argued from the beginning that employers like Frank O'Brien must be able to operate their business in a manner consistent with their moral values, not the values of the government. We look forward to this case moving forward and securing the constitutional rights of our client.”
I love this story SO MUCH, y'all. It makes me smile to think that small businesses - the very BACKBONE of this country - are fighting back against this oppression-disguised-as-benevolence.
It's good news for all of us who still believe in the United States Constitution.
So you can suck it, Obamacare. And for those who have no regard for guys like O'Brien and his personal freedoms? You can suck it even harder.
Chalk one up for the good guys, everyone.
