So you may have noticed that lately we've been inundated by trolls. Particularly trolls like "Libby," who like to use multiple proxy servers to try to post under as many different IP's and different names as possible, thinking, erroneously, that we won't know it's the same person.
It's not only tiresome to ban multiple IP's, it also kinda creeps us out that we would even need to do that. I mean, someone who spends that much time stalking a site with which they disagree is clearly unstable.
SO, we've done what we probably should have done forever ago. We are now requiring registration in order to post comments (or logging in via Facebook as an alternative). For those of you already registered, you're not going to see anything different. But this site will no longer allow drive-bys. If someone wants to comment, they've got to provide a valid email address, and register with it. Period. End of story.
Will creepers like "Libby" still just create fake emails and try to post comments anyway? Sure - because they're lunatics. But it'll be far more cumbersome for them, and far easier for us to get rid of them. So, "Libby" - knock yourself out, you obsessive, bizarre, creepy thing you.
Will this potentially limit decent, normal people from commenting because they'd prefer to stay unregistered? Perhaps. But it's the price we're willing to pay to keep our site as troll-free as possible.
Anyway, just thought y'all should know.
As you were. ![]()
