Mr. Mock And Mr. Daisy Answer Reader Questions...

Written by

Social-QuestionsLarge.jpeg

Mock and I solicited reader questions again yesterday - but this time, they were to be directed at our husbands.  Mr. Mock and Mr. Daisy obliged, answered some of your questions (we've received more since they answered these and may do a follow-up post as a result!), and here they are in their full glory.

Please note that some of the answers are highly inappropriate.  And not at ALL politically correct.  Because they're married to us, and you should expect nothing different.

Mr. Mock...

What's it like being married to Mock? What's it like living amidst all that awesomeness? Do you think you've died and gone to heaven?
(Laughter)  It’s like living at the state fair everyday.  It’s fun, we laugh every day and we tease each other every day.  It’s like living with your best friend with benefits.

Did you meet Mock in a political setting or on a different kind?
There was no political setting for us 13 years ago.  We knew we were both conservative, and where we stood on issues, and we agreed on political views, but the state of the country wasn’t nearly as bad as it is now, so we didn’t worry as much as we do now.  No politics involved in our meeting whatsoever.  We were set up on a blind date by co-workers.

Do you ever at times worry about her safety due to this site and some of the threats that have been received? How do you keep from losing your cool when people blatantly disrespect your wife? Your wife is obviously smart and very politically astute. Does she ever let you kick some troll's butt or does she keep thatfor herself?
Absolutely I worry. I know as they get bigger it’s only going to get worse and more serious.  Right now, it’s just idiots throwing out internet tough guy bullshit, but once they get bigger with more exposure, the threats will be real and will have to be dealt with.  I keep my cool just by watching her reaction.  If she laughs it off, I laugh it off.  Most of the time, she laughs it off. She doesn’t need me to fight her battles.  She handles that on her own.

What is your wife's favorite, most filthy curse word? And at what time or circumstances is she most apt to use it? She doesn’t cuss nearly as much as I do, so I don’t even notice it.  “F*ck” is in my daily vocabulary, so it barely registers when I hear it from her (or anyone else).

Does Mock’s sardonic and sarcastic sense of humor spill over into your family lives or are the Chicks their alter egos?
She’s the same on line as she is off line!

How did you manage to land such a great woman? I am married to an exceptional woman. She is strong, intelligent and outspoken. In our world, I think of myself as the Comic Relief. What would you say your place is beside such strong and beautiful women?
GAWD.  (more laughter).  Pure luck.  By the grace of the Lord above.  I’m the college football expert of the family, and I repair stuff.  I’m the fix-it guy.

Okay, so the Chicks look good, but can they cook?! Do they serve Hummus (Arabic) like Michelle O. wants our kids to eat, or Chickpeas (English) like we say right here in the USA?
(epic laughter) Is this a joke? No.  She doesn’t cook.

How many friends/family members will no longer speak to you because of Mock's outspoken political beliefs? Does she cost you friends or cause problems with friends or co-workers by being so out-spoken about their conservative views?
Her outspoken views are the same as mine, so it wouldn’t be just her that we’re losing friends over!  If a relative wouldn’t speak to me because of my political views, I wouldn’t want contact with them anyway.

I wonder if you are doing more housework now. Being MEN... do you help with any of the "women's work" (you know, cooking, cleaning, sewing, baking.. you know..) or do you leave all that to the little women...?
(More laughter).  She would have had to actually have done housework before for me to start doing more now.

Was she always this political?
I don’t think she was. When we met in 1998, we never talked much about current events, because things just weren’t as dire as they are now.

Do you DARE disagree with your wives, on political issues especially? Or do you just keep quiet?
We disagree all the time – for example, I think there is a large voting block of independents, whereas she doesn’t. She thinks people are so divided at this point they know who they’re voting for and HAVE known who they’re voting for.  We differ on foreign policy at times.  I’m probably more of a fiscal conservative than she is.  I would never hold back.  That’s not an honest relationship.

Who’s more conservative in the marriage- you or the Mrs.?
I think we’re pretty similarly conservative.

How do you feel about being called "Mr. Mock"?
Meh.  I’m the one who created her screen name to begin with, so I guess it’s my fault.

Boxers...or briefs?
Boxers.  Or nothing.

Does Mr. Mock do P90X? And does he have guns like Paul Ryan?
F*ck yeah.

Do you ever tell your wives no politics at dinner time like my husband says about phones and t.v.?
No.

Have you ever 'name dropped' your wife's names to get into someplace cool or to hobnob with someone??
(stunned silence).  I couldn’t use her name to get into a grocery store.

Are you as politically involved or does this amuse you? Reason I ask is my wife couldn't care less about politics.
That’s a shame. I’m not one to go knocking on doors to get people to vote.  I don’t write about politics.  But I’m every bit as involved from an interest standpoint.

Do you actually read COTR (and TMD) every day? Do Daisy and Mock quiz you on the day's posts at dinner?
Yes, I read both every day.  No, I don’t get quizzed.

How do you compete in the shoe department?
If she wants shoes, I tell her to buy them, or I just buy them.  I guess that makes me awesome.

Have you ever won an argument with Mock?
Yes.

Do you tell Mock that she is "obsessed" with politics and getting Obama out if the white house, like my husband thinks I am?
No.  It’s not an obsession – it’s concern for our country’s path.

Mr. Daisy...

What's it like being married to Daisy?
Well, once you get past the press in the driveway and all the damned paparazzi – it’s normal.  Seriously, we laugh a lot - I’m sure that we’re like many relationships.  I love my wife and I support what she has built.  I’ve been blessed to have Daisy in my life as a friend and then my wife.

What's it like living amidst all that awesomeness? Do you think you've died and gone to heaven?
It’s tough getting that awesomeness to pick an outfit in the morning so we can head out the door.  As stated before, I am a lucky guy and I feel blessed on a daily basis.

Did you meet her in a political setting or on a different kind?
I met Daisy at work several years ago.  I was leading a project team and we needed a writing resource; something we didn’t have internally at the time.  So we went out to a contract shop.  I helped select a resume of a writer and in about a month, Daisy walked into my life.  She moved from Atlanta to take the job.  We became friends; she worked hard then got a better offer in another big city.  I didn’t really see her for a year.  She moved back, and the rest is history.  It took a long time for me to find her, and I am so very glad that I did.  One thing I do remember when I met her the first time, I thought... nice rack.  I told her that later ;)

Do you ever at times worry about her safety due to this site and some of the threats that have been received?
All the time.  I hate to see the stuff that comes in.  As readers, you don’t see what I do, and it pisses me off.  I worry about safety at all time when she’s out and about with her political hat on.  There are too many oddballs in the world.

How do you keep from losing your cool when people blatantly disrespect your wife?
It’s hard.  I don’t like it.  But doing what she does and knowing the world we live in, losing your cool won’t resolve it.  What I do is try to evaluate the threat.  I can usually track a person, down to where they live within a pretty short order.  I can then use online tools to see if they have a history of this.  I also tell Daisy to call the police when I feel it’s warranted.  And I have done that a few times.

Your wife is obviously smart and very politically astute. Does she ever let you kick some troll's butt or does she keep thatfor herself?
Nope – not my job.  I may point one out that she’s not seen on FB, but it’s her gig, not mine.

What is your wife's favorite, most filthy curse word? And at what time or circumstances is she most apt to use it?
The F Bomb. Daisy curses like a sailor, who has been on several world tours.

Does Daisy’s sardonic and sarcastic sense of humor spill over into your family lives or are the Chicks their alter egos?
For Daisy, WYSIWYG - or in this case SEE = READ.  So yes, that’s one of the reasons I fell in love with her.  She’s beautiful, witty and can actually spell check all of my writing with little to no effort.

How did you manage to land such a great woman? Like you guys, I am married to an exceptional woman. She is strong, intelligent and outspoken. In our world, I think of myself as the Comic Relief. What would you say your place is beside such strong and beautiful women?
I hired her, then married her.  See above.  I’m the comic relief, a vent, a friend that cares – but not to the same level as her.  I think that helps with defining the forest from the trees at times.

Okay, so the Chicks look good, but can they cook?! Do they serve Hummus (Arabic) like Michelle O. wants our kids to eat, or Chickpeas (English) like we say right here in the USA?
Daisy – no.  She loves her crockpot though! And as the one that does 99% of the shopping, no on hummus.

How many friends/family members will no longer speak to you because of Daisy's outspoken political beliefs?
I have no one that’s made that choice.  The reality of it is that many of my friends (except for a couple that are politically active) don’t have a clue that my wife has this site.

Does Daisy cost you friends or cause problems with friends or co-workers by being so out-spoken about their conservative views?
Nope

Are you doing more housework now? Being MEN... do you help with any of the "women's work" (you know, cooking, cleaning, sewing, baking.. you know..) or do you leave all that to the little women...?
I like to cook, I like to grill, Daisy likes to bake (cupcakes), if we need minor sewing, I will do that, major sewing we outsource that.  Cleaning, I help but Daisy has these whirlwind cleaning and organizing spells, and when in process, I just try to stay out of the way.

Were they always this political?
Not so much when we first met, but over the past 6 years, it’s been growing and growing.

Do you DARE disagree with your wife, on political issues especially? Or do you just keep quiet?
I call it like I see it. I have no issue telling my wife my opinion. I hear hers all the time, and reciprocal dissent is allowed.

Who's more conservative in the marriage- you or the Mrs.?
Daisy is.

How do you feel about being called "Mr. Daisy"?
I don’t mind it - it’s better than “Mr. Asshat.”  If you see me on FB though – I’m Guy Daisy.

Boxers...or briefs?
Commando, just like my wife.

Does Mr. Daisy do P90X? And does he have guns like Paul Ryan?
P90X – No – I thought that was some experimental military aircraft designation. Guns – Well if he has Rugar, Remington, Glock, Mossberg or Bushmaster – then yes.

Do you ever tell your wives no politics at dinner time like my husband says about phones and t.v.?
No, Daisy knows that I have a different level of involvement as her and I am just not at that level.  We may talk about something in the news but for the most part it’s about our days, if our littlest one used the potty, if our middle kid did well on his college exam, or if our oldest is surviving as a grown adult away from home.

Have you ever 'name dropped' your wives names to get into someplace cool or to hobnob with someone??
Nope, to be honest, if I did AND it worked, it would have to be a drop to one of her readers.  In the larger political landscape, COTR is still on the up and coming list.  I think it would be cool for her to be able to do so, BUT I know Daisy is not in this for the cutesies or cool swag. I hope that someday she sees something cool out the site like a SALARY, but again, that’s an aspiration.  You all have no idea the time and energy that it takes to do this site, PLUS attempt to live a normal life with kids and husbands and lives.

Are you as politically involved or does this amuse you? Reason I ask is my wife couldn't care less about politics.
I’m not politically involved like my wife.  That does not translate to me not caring, I do.  I just care and vote…I just care in a different manner than my wife.

Do you actually read COTR every day? Does Daisy quiz you on the day's posts at dinner?
I look at COTR FB site more that than the website.  It’s easier for me to see what’s going on quickly without having to drill for results and trolls.

How do you guys compete in the shoe department?
I have 3 pairs of work/dress shoes, several pairs of tennis shoes and 2 pairs of work boots, none of which are from France.

Have you ever won an argument with Daisy?
Nope, it’s like bringing a knife to a gun fight.  I don’t have a chance.

Do you tell their wife they’re "obsessed" with politics and getting 0bama out if the white house, like my husband thinks I am?
Obsessed – no – passionate and trying to make the future a bit better for our kids, yes, by all means.  Daisy does not talk of it all the time, at least not around me.  I’m sure she and Mock gab all the time about political this or that.  I see a different side of Daisy, my wife, my friend…it’s different and it’s not like living in a campaign office.
