The Embarrassment That Is The NAACP

Written by

Do you ever read the official statement of an organization and think, "Holy crap - I can't believe they actually said that out loud?"

Because that's how I felt when I read the NAACP's reaction to Tim Scott's appointment to the Senate.

Keep in mind, this appointment will make Tim Scott the ONLY BLACK US SENATOR until at least 2014. And that the acronym NAACP stands for National Association for the ADVANCEMENT of Colored People. I don't know about you all, but being appointed as a Senator seems like a fairly decent example of advancement. Apparently, however, that organization's name needs to be revised to NAACPWALRBP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Who Are Liberal Race Baiting Parasites.)

Hilary Shelton, senior vice president for advocacy and policy at the NAACP, isn't particularly pleased with Nikki Haley's choice to replace Sen. DeMint.  Shelton admitted that it was "important that we have more integration in the US Senate" and that it was "good to see that diversity" but said that the NAACP platform calls for an expansive role for federal government spending in black communities. Shelton believes Tim Scott would "likely work against that agenda" instead favoring the "small government posture of Reagan and his Sec'y of Education, William Bennett."

Shelton went on, "When the discussions about small government were utilized by Ronald Reagan, he appointed Bill Bennett as the Secretary of Education. Bill Bennett had actually voted during his time in the House of Representatives to eliminate the Department of Education.  That’s not within the African-American community’s best interest.”
Riiiiight.  Because just LOOK at how positive the Dept of Education has been for black people.  LOOK AT THEIR STELLAR RECORD, EVERYONE!

Tim Scott some time ago had addressed the interest paid to his race.  He said, "Certainly I feel like I’m the tip of the arrow at times because certainly the national media wants to talk about the fact that I’m a black Republican and some people think of that as zany that a black person would be a conservative but to me what is zany is any person black, white, red, brown or yellow not being a conservative.”  And to that point, Shelton simply said, OUT LOUD, mind you, that like all voters, "black Americans vote their interests, and those interests involve an expanded role for the federal government."

I'm just amazed that a spokesperson for the NAACP would so openly, easily say that black people are only interested in what the government will spend on them.

Shelton is hopeful that the NAACP will be able to brainwash convince Tim Scott to "change how he votes and what he advocates for in a way more consistent" with the NAACP.
Yeah.  Good luck with that, Hillary Shelton.  Thankfully, Tim Scott appears to be a much better representative of the advancement of black people than you.  Or than the entire NAACP, for that matter.
Nothing like an organization claiming to be all about the advancement of black people, and then admitting that their biggest raison d'etre is to wait for big government handouts.
