Mr. President – STOP APOLOGIZING FOR ME.

I think it’s safe to say that the President of the United States is a representation of the people of the United States. I’m one of those people, FYI.
And in the case of Obama apologizing to the Afgan president about Korans being burned….well, I’m just a wee bit irritated that he apologized on behalf of me, when I don’t agree with the apology. In fact, I think that the apology was not only unnecessary, but completely out of line, considering that two soldiers are dead today after an Afghan in an army uniform killed them.
President Barack Obama apologized for the burning of Korans on a U.S. air base in Afghanistan as Afghans and NATO troops died in a third day of riots over the treatment of the Islamic scripture.
At least five deaths raised the riots’ Afghan death toll to 12, according to provincial officials reached by phone from Kabul. An Afghan in an army uniform killed two soldiers of the U.S.-led coalition force in Afghanistan, a statement from its headquarters said.
Obama wrote to Afghan President Hamid Karzai that “I wish to express my deep regret for the reported incident” in which personnel at the Bagram air base threw copies of the Koran and other books into a burning rubbish pile. “I extend to you and the Afghan people my sincere apologies,” Obama wrote, according to a statement from Karzai’s office.
“We will take the appropriate steps to avoid any recurrence, to include holding accountable those responsible,” Obama said in a letter delivered by U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker.
Here’s the thing, y’all. One – we are at war. Our President is completely inept at being a wartime president. Two – the Korans burned had been defaced by prisoners who had written all over them, and it’s completely acceptable to burn Korans when they’ve been defaced. This is deemed OK.
So, why on God’s green earth would our President APOLOGIZE? Why wouldn’t he, instead, in light of the two soldiers killed and the fact that we HAVE NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR, just make a statement about what really happened. You know, tell the truth.
I suppose that would be asking for a lot from him. Truth and backbone are nonexistent in this President, it seems.
Meanwhile, the Taliban issued a statement that they want to retaliate: “The Muslim Afghan nation must not be deceived by their superficial apologies and must continue seeking revenge,” the Taliban leadership said in a statement e-mailed by Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman.
Interestingly enough, the same base burned a bunch of bibles a few years back, and Obama didn’t apologize to anyone for that. Weird how that works.
God bless the families who lost their loved ones. My heart goes out to them, and I hope they know that there are people out there on THEIR side. People that aren’t our President.

Forget apologizing FOR me, I need him to apologize TO me. Just got my bonus check and the ird took 40% of it…. I’m lower middle class. Not cool that he and his buddies AVOID paying taxes, along with the 50% that don’t pay taxes, to saddle the rest of us with it.
Our President is more concerned with the feelings of people who want us dead than he is for those americans who fund his vacations.
This brings the dicotomy of the Muslim people worldwide into focus. What another reader keeps telling us, in comments about “Liberals Hate The Truth”, is the peaceful gentle nature of 99% of the Muslim world. For the life of me, I cannot imagine actual deaths happening in any Christian culture over burning of a Bible.
So, in order to fuel that violence even more, our Prez apologizes. I wonder if he has ever apologized for anything other than slights to Muslim nations? Shouldn’t his apology be to the families of those soldiers and innocents who died because of these ridiculous riots? Something like, “I’m sorry that someone inadvertently burned Korans, but I am more sorry that this happened in such a way the the insanity of this “peaceful” religion generated riots, death and destruction. I am deeply sorry for those families that are suffering from the loss of there loved ones and I abhor the violence of this “peaceful” religion.”
That would work if he just HAD to apologize.
The soldiers burned garbage from a prison cell, which included materials that may have contained clandestined messages between prisoners, written on Qurans.
Doesn’t that defile the Quran?
The traitor is an incompetent douche.
And by the way, just how in the hell did anyone outside the chain of command in the prison learn of this to begin with? This is a non-story that has turned into a big deal.
The only reason I re-enlisted and didn’t retire is because I didn’t want obama’s signature contaminating my retirement certificate.
Soldier, thank you for everything you have done and do for our country.
And Tim is right, they were burning trash. Also, I don’t see them apologizing for burning our flags.. So Mr. President please STOP apologizing and stand up and be a MAN
I found it funny that the same day the president apologized for burning defaced korans, the afghanis burned effigies of obama. Any apology from their government?

Is it not a sad day when a “religion” places more value on a piece of paper than a human life.
I am a Mum of soldiers that have served 3 tours between them in this God forsaken country! I am appalled that our President would apologize ….gawd! Bring our soldiers home NOW! The ‘apology ‘ should be to directed to the American soldiers and their families along with a letter of resignation due to incompetence of this President of the USA! Shame on this President!!!!

So, are THEY going to apologize for the two soldiers they killed afterward? (I heard that on the news, but didn’t confirm it, so if I’m wrong…forgive the error of accuracy, but you see the dichotomy, yes?)
GROW A SET and STOP apologizing. We need a leader not someone who continually makes it worse.
“We will hold those responsible accountable”.
That’s slowbama speak for; “don’t worry, we’ll find somebody to blame and punish”.
We should pull out of Afghanistan today, and stop the money flowing to the puppet regime. We would then warn them if the training camps start we will return with WWII rules of engagement, and not rule out nuking if necessary. Our apologizer in chief must stop apologizing for things we do as an occupier of a beaten country. As Sarah said where’s the apology for 2 dead soldiers during riots. III resist.
Truthfully, I do not believe I have ever visited a frequently occupied political sight with this many uneducated people commenting on surface issues without any ability to dissect the foundation of socioeconomic issues. So many conclusions and ranting rhetoric and so little perspective.
You think you are somehow helping by standing up for something, but you don’t realize you are just another part of the problem. Stupidity in America is not a disease, it is negligence by choice.
Please Kevin – please please please enlighten us on the foundation of socioeconomic issues.

Oh, Kevin. You’re spewing the typical “I know more than you” fodder that so often comes from the Left. Just because we disagree with you doesn’t mean we haven’t read the same research and studied the same issues as you. Perhaps we have different (gasp!) principles. Let me guess: you think we’re uneducated rednecks? Or are we all rich white guys? Those are the two generalizations that most frequently get dropped on us here. Poke around the site a little more: you’ll find some amazing, CIVIL discussions with liberals who come here to disagree with us respectfully. We’re always ready to discuss both sides when someone approaches it with civility and decorum. You ought to consider that approach if you hope to achieve anything other than to insult. If that’s your goal, well, keep it up.
Now, excuse me, please; I need to get back to my unbathed trip to Wal-Mart or to my high-paying CEO job (whichever best suits the moment).
