This Is The Dumbest Quote I’ve Heard This Month

And sure, it may be only because they seem to be keeping Joe Biden in a bunker somewhere. But yeah – here’s the quote. It’s from Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s brain-in-chief and teleprompter prompter, who had this to say about welfare and how it STIMULATES THE ECONOMY:
“Even though we had a terrible economic crisis three years ago, throughout our country many people were suffering before the last three years, particularly in the black community. And so we need to make sure that we continue to support that important safety net. It not only is good for the family, but it’s good for the economy. People who receive that unemployment check go out and spend it and help stimulate the economy, so that’s healthy as well.”
Wow.
Democrats actually think this way. They literally BELIEVE it. And people wonder why our economy is as sucktastic as it is.
Soak it in, those of you with that rare commodity known as COMMON FREAKIN SENSE. And try not to get a migraine from shaking your head in amazement at the stupidity.

Um they have to be freaking kidding. If one is on unemployment they are usually scrambling just to keep a roof over their heads they are NOT spending it on stuff that is going to help the economy except maybe food to eat and or gas for their car to look for work.
That quote reminds me of an M.C. Escher print.
I caught myself shaking my head just as I read this “and try not to get a migraine from shaking your head in amazement at the stupidity.” Oh dear.
WTF did she say???
Too late. Already got the migraine.
Like it or not, people on unemployment usually spend every cent they have. Unlike those who own the businesses who stash their money away to save for something, like going ot China to visit their factories.
FINALLY, doctors have figured out whats wrong with the liberal brain!
On the left side..there’s nothing right,,
and on the right side.. there’s nothing left…..
@Sue. Really!?! As a business owner I do indeed stash money away. Right after I’ve paid my suppliers, rent, utilities, insurance, and other EMPLOYEE costs! Yes I said employee costs because I am a job creator and by stashing money away I have a safety net for the lean times so that I can continue to employ people instead of sending them to the ranks of the unemployed. How disrespectful of the system I must seem. Bad business owner, bad business owner. Now go sit in the corner. sheesh.
Sue, like it or not, people who have small businesses are spending every cent THEY have in just trying to pay their employees and paying their bills so they can keep their doors open, so they don’t have to lay more people off who will have to draw unemployment. Wish there WAS some money to ‘stash’. I’m not sure you know what it takes to run a business.
Sue i won’t be as kind as the prior posters. You’re an idiot, this site is waaay above your pay grade, maybe you were looking for the Huffington Post and made a right turn? I owned a small business and employed two people. Most of what I sold was made here in the good ol USA by stay-at-home moms who were looking to add a bit of money to their family’s pay. They were actively trying to AVOID the “safety net.” It was the government that cost me my business, they nickel and dimed me out of business. The last straw was a tax assessor who came in to value my fixtures and tax me on them – yes tax me on my old dining room furniture that I had used for years. Yup more of my hard earned money to take care of those who don’t give a **** about taking care of themselves. Awesome.
As far as what Sue said I have to agree 100% with……………..Tracy’s response!
I so stole your comment, Russell!
I so stole your comment, Russell!! Thanks for today’s post!
I’ve had to draw unemployment for unscheduled plant shutdowns and the like and I fail to see how being forced to fight with the state for a check that isn’t even near close enough to pay the mortgage let alone to keep my mandated health insurance active can possibly help the economy. Liberals are silly.
See you evil conservatives, it’s like this: we take money from the employed &/or taxpayer & give to the unemployed. Then the unemployed spend it in a manner which stimulates the economy more than if the employed &/or taxpayer were to spend it in the same locations……get it now????
See, as a self employed, independent contractor, working strictly on commissions, it is BAD for me to save money for a rainy day. I should spend all I have to stimulate the economy for others. Then if I need money because I can’t make a sale because the economy is just too bad, I can go on unemployment. After all, I pay both my share plus the matching funds the employer normally pays on behalf of their employees, so the unemployment money will be there for me. Oh, wait, self employed people pay into it but can’t EVER collect from it. I see now….can I get up? I’m tired of holding my ankles…..
Sue, when the government stops punishing us for being productive and gets their taxing/regulating boot off our neck (not to mention the union thugs and gangsters making it near-impossible to do business), maybe we’ll bring the factories back. Until then, why should we?
Sue, my husband owns a small business. Not only has he been unable to “save” any money for the past 3 years, but he has had to let go 1 employee just to keep the business above water. Our business is living paycheck to paycheck now, but at least his remaining 4 employees have JOBS!!
First off all you people complaining about what Sue said about about businesses stashing money way. Should have read it a little better the last part says to visit their factories. If you are a small business owner and only have 2 or 3 employees, then you more than likely don’t own a factory in china so she wasn’t talking about you. And it is a proven fact that unemployment is so high because of the big businesses sending their factories over seas and putting all their works out of work. So get down off your high horses and pay a little attention to whats going on in the real world.
V. Jarrett is indeed wise. Soon, Obama will joyfully declare that unemployment checks are endless because money really does grow on trees and that most work type jobs are just an evil Zionist Wall Street plot. Its springtime for Obama. Following this joyful pronouncement V. Jarrett will unveil a comprehensive individual mandate to help us avoid making incorrect spending decisions. The list of acceptable purchases and when they can be purchased will be conveniently posted at your local police station. Oh, and fat people (food terrorists) will receive free weight loss instructions at some lovely camps in Cuba. Joy! Hint: the sooner you register as a carded party member, the better.
>> And it is a proven fact that unemployment is so high because of the big businesses sending their factories over seas and putting all their works out of work.
Now ask why they’re doing that.
No business can be expected to work at a loss, or work against itself, for the benefit of its employees. I, for one, don’t hire support staff in order to give them a job. I hire them because I have a job that needs doing that I’d rather pay someone for, than do myself. However, if it becomes too costly (and I’m not just talking financially) to pay that person – for whatever reason, be it minimum wage; OSHA regulations; EPA regulations; union disputes; etc. – then I get rid of them. Similarly, if the cost of doing business itself becomes too burdensome… well then what’s the point?
Now, suppose there’s a place where I don’t have my attempts to do business constantly frustrated by taxes and regulations and so forth. Can you really begrudge me going there instead? If so, why?
To AT: In my area, many employers were polled as to why they weren’t hiring more workers. Well, their replies were similar to yours–it had become too costly to do so due to regulations, etc, and one you didn’t list–the uncertainty of Obamacare’s true cost. However, the places that ARE hiring can’t seem to find qualified workers because those that do apply can’t do the required basic math or even worse pass a drug test. One company had over 400 applicants for jobs, and only 65 could pass the required drug test. I thought you might find that interesting.
I feel sorry for employers (as well as the unemployed). BUT around here the “safety net” has become a hammock. I can’t use just two hands to count the men and women who tell me that they refuse to “find” a job when they can receive unemployment and remain at home. Out of those, many refuse to “find” work that pays less or has different hours than what they left. One man even said to me that he’d gone to “apply” for work and deliberately misled the tester as to his math ability in order to remain on unemployment because the job paid less than he made at his old job and this was an entry level job instead of his being admitted higher on the seniority scale where he felt he belonged.
These things are “silly reasons” but they seem to stem from the HAMMOCK being a bit too comfortable and ongoing, to me.
So, I feel sorry for employers not being able to FIND qualified workers who are drug free and who will WORK, but I also feel sorry for the unemployed who cannot find work at all in an area near their home. It’s a catch 22, for sure.
What are ya gonna do? The nation is split and it ain’t coming together any time soon. The worst off we get, the more we rely on government and then they have you and you have to do what they say. Like a crack dealer getting a newbie hooked.
Amen brother Rich….ain’t it the truth!
If I call Obama a pimp is that racist?
So if Clintoon was able to use the phrase, “It’s the economy, stupid”.
Will it now make a comeback?
Rich, you are telling it like it is. Unfortunately we need much more change than either party is going to bring. We are going down the same road as Greece, maybe sooner than later.
Sue, Sue, Sue. Here’s one for you, Sue baby. I make products and sell them to people. I charge more than what it costs to make. I keep some of that money, it’s called a salary for me and my employees. The remainder goes to taxes, fees, and to stay ahead of the alphabet soup of regulatory agencies trying to keep me from growing, for the greater good of course.
And Sue, I go to China and I set up factories to make products, and I now sell those China made products ….wait for it Sue….to the Chinese! And those products too also are priced higher than what it costs to make them. And most of the delta pays salaries of Chinese employees and managers, and then what’s left over (certainly after paying taxes to the Chinese government) comes back to the USA so I can pay taxes on that, and then if there’s any left, maybe I can keep some and buy something.
Sue, your tent is filthy. Clean it up.
Oh yes, and to not stray off topic, our dear Valerie Jarrett is THE ONE who so highly praised Van Jonze when he as appointed the green czar….I believe the quote was “Oh we’ve been watching him for all the years he’s been active in Oakland…” but my typing simply can’t capture that Valerie Jarrett enthusiasm, so here’s a clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ud_yNFnfrSI
Our President’s most trusted advisor….
This is as dumb as when Wasserman Schultz said unemployment did not go up under Obama.

in case you missed it.
Could it be some sort of drug? Do they get hypnosis with their spa treatments? Cult programming? They can not believe these things. Most likely, they are hoping we are stupid enough to believe what they know are flat out lies. Have I finally gotten old enough that such behavior is starting to piss me off in a personal way? I used to dismiss a fool a fool and get on with my thoughts, but I seriously feel angry at how they lie with absolute impunity. And absolute comfort that they will not be called on it. Disgusting.
@Sue The last time I checked, after i paid my taxes, expenses, etc, the remainder (if any) was mine to do with as I see fit. Why do you care if I stash money away? At least if life takes a turn for the worse (again) at least I won’t be headed to the welfare ofc, unemployment, etc. Calling people who think about the future greedy makes you look stupid.
1. Why is it holier to the left that I be a grasshopper instead of an ant?
2. Why did she point out unemployed BLACK folks specifically? Is she trying to suggest, in her class warfare mentality, that white folks aren’t facing an unemployment problem?
3. What is it about the leftist mentality that allows for the idea that taking money from people is good for the economy?
And as to the idea that the poor or unemployed should be given my money by government fiat…. Why does it matter HOW I’d use my money? I worked for it, paid taxes on it and should keep it. Whether I give it to charity, buy a car or blow it on hookers and beer…. What business is it of the federal or state government to take it so it can be redistrubted to someone that the government says can better use it?
The story of the grasshopper and the ant has a good lesson, too bad disney bastardized it and eliminated the lesson.
It baffles me that there’s even an ARGUMENT about whether or not this comment is COMPLETELY FREAKIN INSANE.
It’s insane. There’s no gray area here, folks. THEY ARE WRONG.
WOW! I missed a lot!
I see Valerie Jarrett is sticking to her talking points issued by the administration and developed by Center for American Progress.
As to Sue and Taffy people are wasting their breath. They are more interested in feeling than thinking. Both suffer from class envy and have no clue what ‘Thou Shall Not Covet’ means. For some inexplicable reason they also think that businesses owe them and others a job. Yeah try and wrap your head around that one.
Here’s a solution to all our woes: EVERYONE should quit working, collect unemployment, and voila! we have a booming economy. We aren’t that far off this happy state of affairs. with 50% of all Americans not paying income taxes – these are the same people for whom raising taxes is a good idea. In the same vein, why would not public employee unions be for higher taxes – they live off our largesse, after all. What cracks me up is the threat the unions make to go ON STRIKE – against whom? Against the very people who pay their salaries and pensions.
As to Sue – her thinking proves my point exactly.
genetics 73: It’s easy to see why and how people like Sue and Taffy fall for communism.
It’s even easier to see the communism in this administration.
There is simple math to all of this. Taxes are collected from the “haves” in order to redistribute to the “have nots.” Once the taxes are collected, a certain amount must be paid to the collectors (bureaucrats) prior to redistribution. Therefore, every time a tax is collected for redistribution, the redistributed amount is ALWAYS LESS than what was collected. That means that a redistributive tax GRADUALLY EMPTIES THE PRIVATE SECTOR. You know who wins in this game? THE BUREAUCRATS, of course!
I participate in an online chat community for parents, and this is what one woman posted on a government assistance thread yesterday: “I am a case worker in CA and we encourage people who qualify to get on FS [food stamps] because they are federal dollars that are used in the local economy which is good for the local stores. “
