If You Thought You Loved Rep. McClintock Already, Just Wait. Your Love Is About To Increase By A Factor Of A Million.

A clever and competent reader sent me this video of Rep. McClintock asking some tough questions to the CBO Director yesterday, and it’s McClintock at his very very best. It’s almost enough to make me think there’s hope for California yet.

GLEEEEEEES.

LOVED watching the CBO director squirm – he knew McClintock had him dead to rights but couldn’t figure out how to weasel out of the questions! Such glorious schadenfreude!!

It was a set up and he was the fall guy…all be it a little man on the totem pole…bottom line is that this administration hasn’t a clue, nor cares about former track records except to put the blame on them. They are an empty suit. The facts, however show the truth.
I loved the giggle guy and the CBO director doing a swivel head to his aide for help.

Hooray for McClintock! CBO chairman got a spanking like Maureen O’Hara got from the Duke in the movie “McClintock!”

I like how this dude continues to sell the sovereign debt crisis as “the recovery.”

Like shooting fish in a barrel.

I’m so proud he’s my representative in Congress – he does give me hope. That dude (CBO DIRECTOR? – How clueless can he be?) couldn’t answer ONE single question. What a joke. McClintock’s line of questioning should be part of the Republican campaign. It’s pretty cut-and-dry, isn’t it?

  10. JL February 7, 2012 at 9:24 pm ·

Can we use that as a GOP campaign ad???

  11. Laurel February 8, 2012 at 1:32 am ·

The man who should of been governor. He is my sister and Dad’s congressman and I donate to him.

    LOVE HIM!

Show of hands…Who really thinks CBO non partisan?

  13. ant February 8, 2012 at 1:42 am ·

Director of the Congressional Budget Office and he couldn’t answer questions, that I , an under-employed construction worker, know. How pathetic is that?

  14. Laurel February 8, 2012 at 1:49 am ·

    ant: Don’t put yourself down.

My husband and I both have spent a good deal of time with politicians and policy wonks in DC. Most couldn’t find their a** with both hands. You know who really runs the show?

    Their aides.

  15. Elaine Benes February 8, 2012 at 8:08 am ·

    This is horrifying.

    “I’m sorry Congressman…I don’t know.”

You are sorry, dude. Very very sorry.

McCintlock was pure awesome. But it would take 100 Tom McCintlock’s to turn California around. And since a vast majority of the California population keeps electing jackwagons, I’m of the opinion (with apologies to Laurel) that it would be in the best interest of the rest of the country to cut California loose and attempt to save the rest of the country.

Wow. Just. Wow. And this person is in charge of the organization that is supposed to score the financials of all bills put forward in Congress??!!! And his response to very pointed questions concerning current and past economics is – ‘I don’t track the policital issues??!!” This idiot was being asked specific pointed questions that fall directly under his purview and he can’t answer??!! Where o where is the cluebat???

    McClintock was AWESOME!!

  19. Carolyn February 8, 2012 at 9:22 am ·

Nina…I thought the EXACT same thing on the “political issues”. And cluebat? LOVE!

  20. Andrew K February 8, 2012 at 10:21 am ·

All of those questions should be easily found on the top of a CBO Director’s head. And if he was truly impartial, he should fess up to the answers quickly and without guilt. He isn’t responsible for the bad legislation, he only advises Congress and PrezBO on the cost of the legislation. He would be well within his right to say “Yes, the deficit is much worse now, just as the CBO told the administration it would be. Mr. McClintock, you are preaching to the choir.” But no.

  21. el pato February 8, 2012 at 11:06 am ·

“We have a nice set of tables in the back”??
    Wow, talk about getting “owned”!!

  22. Laurel February 8, 2012 at 11:55 am ·

Carolyn: No apologies necessary. However realize this. California is a huge state. i think many don’t grasp just how big this state is. It has very large pockets of conservatism. McClintock is but one of them. Remember Issa is also from California.

Then only thing that will save this state is for it to hit the pavement face first then quite possibly it will seek rehab.

In the mean time there is no way in hell I will spend the rest of my life here. As you can see from the court decision yesterday there is no point in voting here. Now picture that happening at every level. It’s like being held hostage.

  23. tim February 8, 2012 at 12:32 pm ·

Why is Eric Holder sending staff members to testify in the CBO meeting ?

  24. Fed Up in CA February 8, 2012 at 5:44 pm ·

Laurel, you nailed it. Don’t lop off California, lop off the Bay Area and Los Angeles. And maybe take out Sacramento just for posterity’s sake.

It’s to the point now where business groups are abandoning support of Republican candidates and instead backing “pro-business democrats” because it’s the only chance we have of not wasting our money and votes. It makes sense, but I think I’d have to drink heavily before voting “D” at the polls.

Meanwhile, it might not be long before we hit that proverbial “rock bottom” – all we need is Jerry Brown to sign the work order for the High Speed Rail. Maybe we could just build the track right off Pacific Coast Highway – since essentially we’re driving our state right off the cliff financially.

Meanwhile, I love me some Tom McClintock. Hope he gets to keep his seat after redistricting.
