You have to give Rep. Tim Huelskamp some serious credit here. Al Sharpton spouts off some false statistics, and asks Tim to comment on whether the end result of those false statistics are fair. Tim says, “What you’re saying isn’t TRUE.” Al says, “But is it FAIR?”

That is like the dumbest way to argue ever. That is effectively like me saying to Daisy, “Hey – out of the $10 annually that we make from running this site, I’m sick of you taking $8 of it. Do you think that’s fair?” and Daisy saying, “Um – that’s not true. I don’t take any of the money because we end up in the hole what with all of our hosting fees and whatnot” and then me interrupting her 20 times to demand whether or not it’s fair that she takes $8 even though she doesn’t.

Al says something along the lines of “Well, ok so you say that it isn’t TRUE, but is it FAIR?” Like – he actually says that, and then rolls his eyes when Tim says, “Um, DUDE. It’s NOT FREAKING TRUE.” This is how stupid Al Sharpton is. And just watch him stammer and sputter and basically try to control his brain from exploding when Tim asks him to reveal his income. OUCH.

Hey – you know what would be FAIR, Rev. Al? If you’d start paying your OWN FREAKING TAXES. GAWD.

Oh, isn’t Schumer so cute with his little attempt at a Romney dig?! FAIL!

Really expected to see Al ‘s brain explode…well, maybe next time . Those darn facts are irritating!

An economics expert demonstrates that in order to be paying a higher tax rate than a millionaire, you have to be a 1%er yourself! http://www.forbes.com/sites/paulroderickgregory/2012/01/25/warren-buffetts-secretary-likely-makes-between-200000-and-500000year/

Why do people still listen to what that idiot has to say???

  5. eve January 27, 2012 at 10:21 am ·

Sharpton OWES 2.6 million to the IRS and he pays the same tax rate as the people in his district??? Who is he trying to kid?

  6. Andrew January 27, 2012 at 10:31 am ·

The Tea Party Rep did an okay job. He did not articulate that Romney’s 14 % tax rate is in addition to the 30% taxes he already paid because this money was taxed when it was income.

Further more fairness is not what life is about. America is great because it gives you the opportunity to be the best you can based on your individual gifts and talents.

It’s amazing to think that this man is considered a ‘leader.’ I’ve heard more convincing, well-thought-out arguments from the kids in my math classes.

I’m not a Mitt fan, but for goodness sakes, can we get off of the percentage argument? In a matter of 2 years, will have paid over $6 million in taxes. $6 MILLION!! (He will also have given nearly $7 million to charity.) But Dems are so stuck on percentages, that somehow paying $6 million is UNFAIR (when half of people don’t pay anything).

It is NOT, nor has it EVER been the government’s job to redistribute the wealth in this country.

  8. Laurel January 27, 2012 at 11:04 am ·

This is class warfare at it’s finest. This is not a country based upon fairness nor should it ever be since fairness is subjective as evidenced by that video.

Hey Al…Is it fair that half of the people in this country pay no taxes at? Is it fair that those that pay no taxes are getting tax dollars back that were never paid into the system or earned? Is it fair that we as a country are rewarding failure with other people’s money?

Is it fair that a charlatan and tax cheat has a tv show and inundates us with stupidity?

    Dear Mr. Sharpton:

    You’re a dick.

    Sincerely,
    America

Loved Sharpton’s deer in the headlights look when he realized Huelskamp wasn’t going to agree with him and cave in. He kept saying, “I ast you…I’m axing you…”. I finally couldn’t hang in. Gawd how I detest that sleezeball lying Reverend. He can’t even put a sentence together because he is mentally challenged. Just the thought that I will be paying for his retirement is painful.
It was all Huelskamp could do to not double over with laughter at the ass.
The IRS is a complicated nightmare and many CPA get mega bucks to file them for clients and lawyers get more to defend/defer them. Americans are allowed to AVOID TAXES but it is illegal to EVADE TAXES. There is a great deal of difference. You can bet your bippy that Big Mouth Buffet takes every deduction he can.
Even his Congressional disgrace didn’t faze him. Hopefully Al will soon be history.

Yet another racist, hateful liberal who demands more taxes but doesn’t pay their own.

  14. David W January 27, 2012 at 12:24 pm ·

There is a special place in Hell reserved for that stupid SOB. He complains about racism and the Black community being depressed and forgotten, and the only leaders the Blacks have is this absolutely stupid, stupid, stupid man. It is people like him who are responsible for the Black Community’s problems. Al is as much a Reverend as the adulterous and non-child support paying Jesse Jackson, who will be sitting in Hell next to Al.

  15. fionacat January 27, 2012 at 12:26 pm ·

BTW, Al, the way you pronounced Huelskamp’s name is raaaaaciiiist! Sorry, couldn’t resist!

Sharpton is a big gas bag. I couldn’t watch that video; his voice and manner of “speaking” are just too painful to hear.

Each and every day I am amazed at what I see going on in our country. It is amazing that in the last 25 years more has been done to tear down our great nation than has been done to preserve the principles and fundamentals that make it great!

If you took all the money from all people earning more that $10M a year, you could only fund our government for 18 days. Then we would have to wait for them to create more wealth to get more money. We need to make sure we understand that this is not about taxes, it is about control. It has to be, nothing else makes sense.

What really drives me batty is that the government is not rewarded for being efficient. This is the fundamental problem with government. We need to examine the effectiveness of ALL government programs to make sure all of our tax money is spent wisely. I propose a few things:

    1) A flat tax of 15%. This does not reward stupidity or the rich. It also does not discourage hard work and ingenuity.
    2) No more Baseline budgeting!
    3) Balanced budgets with cuts to programs. Government must live within its means.
    4) examine all areas of government, and start rewarding the effective parts and cut the inefficiencies from the rest.
    5) Be willing to reduce the size of government when it no longer meats its intended purpose.

Lastly, in regards to Mr. Shaptons comment, Our country is fair when every individual has the ability to become whatever they want to based on their own abilities. It is not fair to punish anyone for using their gifts to make money and provide a life/ lifestyle for the family. Only punish those who are cheating to accomplish this!

Thanks for letting me rant and get my thoughts on paper.

This is along the lines of what PamGM and Andrew are saying. Most are saying Mitt earned 22 million dollars in 2010. Unless, my math is horribly wrong, according to reports that our government has us in the hole for $10billion dollars a day, that’s about $416 million an hour, which means stealing all of MItt’s money would cover us for 3 minutes. And it’s all pointless..it’s akin to discussing amnesty for illegals before closing the border…and the left knows it.

  18. ant January 27, 2012 at 1:24 pm ·

The liberal mindset requires no mind..just a ‘set’. I have never in my life been witness to such downright insanity and blatant lying. Just think of Dan Rather…his documents on Bush were “fake but accurate”??? I just heard from a liberal regarding the fact that on ‘Jeopardy’ yesterday, none of the contestants knew who Rachel Maddow was, despite being shown her photograph. The liberal said that was inaccurate because it was a daily double question and only one contestant could answer it..trouble was..that wasn’t true. Another liberal tried to tell me that he never hears the left playing the politics of race..that it’s always the right doing that…????? I think I know the left’s plan, it is to make conservatives heads explode.

  19. KimGee January 27, 2012 at 1:37 pm ·

    PamGM, I agree completely!

I am not a big Romney fan but, for crying out loud, I think the left would STILL find fault with him if he signed over 95% of his money to the government.

  20. Andrew K January 27, 2012 at 1:50 pm ·

First of all, let me say welcome to another Andrew! I guess it’s a good thing I always put my initial. And I agree with what the “other” Andrew has to say. Nicely done.

The issue that the “Reverend” misses here is that millionaires and billionaires don’t necessarily all pay 14%. The CEO of my company makes a very large paycheck – a salary – that is taxed (I would assume) at a higher rate than mine. I’m also sure that he makes investment income as well. But It’s only the INVESTMENT income that is taxed at the lower rate, and that is only “FAIR” since most people who have investment income put money in their holdings after they received it as some other type of taxed income (i.e. a salary). My father, for instance, is retired, and he socked away as much as he could while he was working for 30 years, and now he’s living on dividends and capital gains (and of course Social Security). I thank God for his sake that all of his income isn’t taxed (again) at 30%.

And I wholeheartedly agree that paying $6.2 million in taxes over 2 years means Mitt has paid his “FAIR” share. How many middle class taxpayers would it take to equal that amount (over and above the millions of Americans who didn’t pay anything)?

And Reverend Al- one bit of advice if you expect people to tolerate your interview show. If your guest doesn’t answer your question after 3 attempts, change the way you phrase it or move onto another question. That was PAIN. FUL. to listen to.

  21. Andrew K January 27, 2012 at 1:56 pm ·

I would have liked to see Sharpton’s face if “Hooelllzicamp” had said:

“Reverend Al, Mitt Romney paid $6.2 million in taxes the past 2 years, every penny that he owed. You haven’t paid the $2.6 million in taxes that you owe. And yet you insist that he’s the one who has done something wrong. Do you think THAT is FAIR?”

  22. Tammy January 27, 2012 at 2:00 pm ·

I couldn’t but read Huelskamp’s expression as, “What an idiot.” It looked as if he was having difficulty not laughing at Rev. (of I don’t know what church) Al.

  23. Carolyn January 27, 2012 at 4:24 pm ·

Good Lord, that was like listening to my kids whine because one got something the other wanted…MOMMMMM…It’s not FAIR that he got an itouch and I don’t have one…MOOOMMMMM….it’s not FAIR that she got to have TWO sleepovers last week and I only got one. MOOOMMMMM…..it’s not FAIR…fill in the blank.

AL…just a FYI…NO ONE WAS EVER PROMISED THAT LIFE IS FAIR. Start with that premise Al, and everything becomes much clearer.

Sharpton has no credibility, I didn’t even watch it, no need. But the problem with America is that big business and big government are scratching each other’s backs. Capitalism is not what is going on in America. You can’t have bailouts and deregulation. ALL of those companies needed to fail, for it to be capitalism. Corporations are not individuals, 19000+ companies in America have their main addresses in other countries, they are not paying taxes, and corporations are getting tax breaks from uncle sam. What exactly is fair about this:
Less than a decade [after Bain bought the mill], the mill was padlocked and some 750 people lost their jobs. Workers were denied the severance pay and health insurance they’d been promised, and their pension benefits were cut by as much as $400 a month. What’s more, a federal government insurance agency had to pony up $44 million to bail out the company’s underfunded pension plan. Nevertheless, Bain profited on the deal, receiving $12 million on its $8 million initial investment and at least $4.5 million in consulting fees.

Let’s all go get incorporated so we can screw someone over and avoid personal responsibility. This is not about leveling the playing field. This is making everyone play by the same rules. I am not asking the superstars to play down to the scrubs level. But a foul is a foul, everyone should get the same penalty. Attacking Al Sharpton is easy and might make you feel better, but it doesn’t change the fact that big corporations are not playing nice. Monsanto can’t compete in a global economy of supply and demand, so they have been paying off the fda and dept. of agriculture to force the threat of sanctions on Europe for not buying its crappy GMO crops. come on man. how stupid do you have to be to defend these types of practices under the guise of capitalism?

Problem with liberals is they whine too much, but don’t take action. If Obama thinks the tax code is not fair, then why doesn’t he put the wheels in motion to change it. After all, he is the President.. He won’t take action to change it because he knows he would lose his re-election attempt if he did. But if he just talks about it, he can stir up the anger of his base.
