What happens when you’re the only source you trust?

I ask because I’m a little concerned that Paul Krugman may be there fairly soon. OK, I may be exaggerating, but the fact is, he used to trust Politifact, but he doesn’t anymore. And why, you ask? Because, to their best determination, they’ve told the truth.
You see, Politifact has selected its “Lie of the Year” and it’s the myth that “Republicans voted to end Medicare”. Here are some nice little tidbits from the article:
A Web video from the Agenda Project, a liberal group, said the plan would leave the country “without Medicare” and showed a Ryan look-alike pushing an old woman in a wheelchair off a cliff. And just last month, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sent a fundraising appeal that said: “House Republicans’ vote to end Medicare is a shameful act of betrayal.”
PolitiFact debunked the Medicare charge in nine separate fact-checks rated False or Pants on Fire, most often in attacks leveled against Republican House members.
“In terms of creating a national conversation about fiscal reform, the last thing we need is demagoguing attacks against people who have put forward serious policy proposals,” said Jason Peuquet, a policy analyst with the bipartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. “It’s very worrying.”
In addition to debunking the Democrats’ myth, the article does a great job of actually explaining how the Ryan plan actually would function. I’m very pleased they did this because I actually understand the whole thing a little bette now.
But learning and truth really do get in the way of Paul Krugman’s attitude and agenda. I really used to think Krugman had a place in the American political discussion, but in the last two years he’s pretty much just gone off the deep end. He sold out to the Obama stimulus-laden plan to reset the economy and now he’s out there on the limb and he’s getting more and more twisted as the weeks and months pass.
He titles his little blog snippet Politifact, R.I.P. Here is the portion of his entry that just drips with irony:
So they’ve bent over backwards to appear “balanced” — and in the process made themselves useless and irrelevant.
I can’t think of anyone that those two words apply to more accurately than Paul Krugman. R.I.P. former economist. Hope the butt-kissing keeps you popular with your new friends.

“The conscience of a liberal”?!?!? bwhahahahahahaha
He titles his blog with an oxymoron!
Hey! I got a trackback! Not sure it’s terribly complimentary, but who cares. I’d prefer it weren’t so cryptic, but hey, press is press.
Anyway, Krugman’s still a jerk.
Interesting article. It’s a left hand compliment at best though.
Paul Ryan’s plan is a good one but it really hinges on the insurance market opening across state lines in order to be effective.
And BTW…that death panel is in Obamacare and regardless a death panel is inevitable with government run health care. Ask the Brits.
Majordawg, sorry for the confusion.
When you click your link to the Krugs blog it says “The conscience of a liberal” next to his mug shot at the top of the blog. That’s was I thought was funny….liberals have consciences?!?!? Who knew?
His “Politifact, R.I.P.” is dishonest and makes him just another tool
No, Sally. I got a mention on another blog. That was my point. I completely understood and LOVED your comment. Well played.
