I don’t know about you all, but this is the most wacked out way to encourage people to do ANYTHING, EVER. This was made by 10:10 Global – a completely batcrap crazy environmental organization which apparently promotes solving the world’s environmental problems by using violence.
Now, since they’ve gotten all kinds of backlash, they’ve taken the video down from their site and replaced it with this apology. That’s all well and good, but at some point, these lunatics Actually Thought that depicting children being blown up for not agreeing to reduce their carbon emissions was appropriate.

That is awful. Some people have a very sick sense of humor.
There are actual people in this world, walking around, who thought this was O.K. In fact, they thought that blowing up people – especially children – was actually FUNNY.

Oh British humor, just a little too much for Americans to stomach. Don’t worry. The reality of what may happen is much worse. Do something and you chance wasting your time and resources, do nothing and you chance loosing civilization as we know it. Your dice.
Save the planet-Kill the people. There are entirely to many people out there that should not be reproducing.

You know what’s kinda funny? When I wrote this post, I Actually Considered saying at the end, “Cue Ed chiming in to say that this ad is totally fine” but then thought that EVEN ED wouldn’t be that insane.

As I read the “apology” on that group’s site I thought that it added an extra insult to the injury with its words of thanks to “the 50+ film professionals and 40+ actors and extras and who gave their time and equipment to the film for free. We greatly value your contributions and the tremendous ENTHUSIASM (emphasis mine) and professionalism you brought to the project…
At 10:10 we’re all about trying new and CREATIVE (emphasis mine) ways of getting people to take action on climate change. Unfortunately in this instance we missed the mark. Oh well, we live and learn.

In other words, no apology, no remorse, just a promise to do more. The only difference between those people and the Muslim islamofascist terrorists is that the latter at least kill themselves in the process.
But then, I saw Mr Ed’s comment and realized that he was one of those “many people [who] found the resulting film extremely funny.” Bizarre, but in character. My original analysis of Mr. Ed’s mental acuity stands: he is a horse’s ass.
Well, as my husband actually IS British and we both value and have dry British wits I assure you…. this is not just an example of dry British humor…. it is moronic. Steven just stood here and shook his head while it played… of course, Great Britain has completely gone insane on a number of issues lately…
In the spirit of 10:10, I suggest that we all increase our carbon footprint by 10%. Drive an extra mile!
The blinkered view of the world on part of the people pushing the carbon/climate change scare is beyond belief to my biochemistry-trained mind. A scientific model which cannot be falsified, a model into which all data fit and which – regardless of the actual state of the planet – assures us of the planet’s approaching demise, such model can properly be defined only as the product of either a sick or an ideologically perverse mind. Perhaps the two go hand in hand, together. In the final analysis, what motivates those people is the antipathy toward, if not an outright hatred of, humanity. They literally wish us dead.

Without getting too technical, the main defense of the “climate change/carbon excess models” is that we can expect ANY weather at ANY time, for ANY number of years. This is – in a nutshell – the sum total of the science behind the politics.
I saw this through a friend on facebook without realizing what I was watching. I thought it must SURELY be a joke. Like “hey, liberals are crazy and will DO anything to scare people about global warming.” Then I saw it was real. Holy crap. They really WILL DO ANYTHING to push a belief, their belief on anyone they can find.
The self-stated goal of the 10:10 movement is to reduce human carbon dioxide emissions 10% per year, over 10 years. That’s 100%. The only way to do that is to be dead within 10 years. They aren’t kidding. Meanwhile, they have some very powerful corporations and politicians supporting them.

And yes, it should scare everyone that so many people within the group thought this video was appropriate and would persuade the masses.

Mamabear, this video was make believe. The reality is that there are entire cadres of people (ELF comes to mind) who wilfully enact violence of this sort and have destroyed vast tracts of their precious tree gods as collateral damage, while taking down research facilities and resorts valued in the billions. We won’t even go to the shennigans of militarized PETA afficinados.
Extremely poor taste. And that’s the kindest thing I can think of to say about it.
There have always been people who have tried to control the weather. They failed, so now they are trying to make you think they control the weather, and the sad part is there are a lot of willing dupes that buy it.
It doesn’t surprise me at the tastelessness of this video. People are the enemy of the planet in a Global Warmer’s warped little minds.

Ed, it has nothing to do with British Humor. The message is do this or we will kill you. There is nothing funny about tyranny.
The message in both the 10:10 campaign and the George Carlin video from Su Z Q that seems to have escaped pretty much all of you is that it is not the planet that needs saving from ourselves, it is us that needs saving from ourselves.
