Ashley Judd Has Lots Of Ideas On How To Spend Your Money. Or, Maybe She Doesn’t.

All those coal mine workers she wants to put out of a job? The government should pay for them to be retrained so they can get first dibs on better jobs. Trained in what? Ashley doesn’t know. And besides – she’s pretty sure that’s a trick question.
I would say that I think she should just shut up and act, but she doesn’t do that particularly well either.

Maybe Ashley & Rosie can pay for the miners and their families to stop mining.
Chicks on the Right, You’re awesome. rawr.
Just another bleep from a dolt.
I really tried to listen to it, but all I heard was hissing hot air…
I guess it’s not her job to decide what to train them in. Really?
But it seems as though she’s made it her job to tell the public they should all be put out of work though. Just another so called celebrity that needs to STFU.
I do think she’s pretty intelligent, but her politics are just wrong-headed. Didn’t she go to Harvard? You have to be pretty strong to not come out of that place (esp. as an undergrad) as a leftist. I agree with Buckeye Bob. I’m getting really tired of so-called celebrities weighing in on things they know nothing about. They really should just stick to acting. I have a whole list of actors I will not watch because they were so nasty about Sarah Palin and McCain.
The govt should hire them to build the wolves only highway.
Hey guys since all these actors are wanting to take our jobs (that they know nothing about) away from us I suggest we all go to Hollywood and take their acting jobs and see how they would like that…we could probably do just as well as they do!
The Romans might have been right when they banned actors and hookers from political activity, but then if that was enforced today where would the democrat Party be.
You know, I wish she really had time to come up with a more thoughtful and calculated response. She’s so BUSY and whatnot. You know, sleeping 12 hours a day.
Proving once again that you just can’t fix stupid.
I always thought Dario Franchitti (sp?) was so cute and such a gentleman…he must not be real bright to have married a self-righteous, arrogant ignoramus like her. She makes me wanna scream….
Hey, it’s not my job to figure out what they should do, but they should be retrained. MORON.
Or they should say ‘mining sucks, I think I’ll go to school’ just like me and everyone else who didn’t want to be a miner did.
The “new economy”—ACK! Someone muzzle that bitch.
S T U P I D!!!!!!!!!!
well, like anything else Hollywood people are about, they all live in a fantasy world, it’s why the leftist agenda works for them. If they support govt and not the people, I do not support them. I took all my Madonna cds years ago and ditched them. Same with Danny Glover, etc. I don’t own a movie Judd is in, but I guarantee if I did, it’s goin in the trash
“Or they should say ‘mining sucks, I think I’ll go to school’ just like me and everyone else who didn’t want to be a miner did.”
Mick-This is not about weather or not they want to be miners, it is about someone else saying that they want said mines to be shut down which equals No Job for the miners that work in those mines!
Ms. Judd has been the victim of a common logical fallacy known as an ad hominem (against the man) argument, which attacks the person rather than the argument or issue. The face of coal has failed to address the real issue at hand here. This is not surprising behavior from the coal industry, since Big Coal often resorts to personal attacks when they feel like their dirty, dangerous, expensive way of life is threatened.
This harsh language and attacks are coming in response to Judd’s June speech at the National Press Club where she railed against mountaintop removal coal mining as “the rape of Appalachia.” I was at that speech and found it very compelling – Judd has been a longtime critic of mountaintop removal coal mining.
Judd is a native of eastern Kentucky, so the destructive practice of mountaintop removal coal mining hits close to home for her. Her June speech discussed in detail the harsh realities that this form of mining and coal in general is having on Appalachia – including massive environmental degradation and the economics showing that the coal industry is hurting the region far more than it is helping.
The real statement behind these coal industry attacks is that when it comes down to the issues, the coal industry can only respond with personal attacks because they know that Judd – and everyone else speaking out against coal – is correct.
I’ve see the coal industry intimidate activists and spend huge amounts of money of lobbying and smearing good people, but I don’t hear about solutions.
Jobs, the environment, health – coal and mountaintop removal coal mining are destroying them all in Appalachia.
As I’ve said before, Judd is no slouch on this issue. Not only did she grow up in the impacted areas, but she’s also done extensive research during her graduate school time at Harvard University.
Ashley Judd knows what she’s talking about, she is absolutely correct, and I applaud her for using her celebrity to help bring attention to such a devastating issue. We must end mountaintop removal coal mining. The people fighting big coal don’t have time for personal attacks.
Sounds like someone has fallen for Ashley’s acting.
Or, maybe someone’s just made themselves really familiar with a copy/paste feature:
