I don’t know about you guys, but I am a sap. I’m one of those chicks who cries easily, and it doesn’t matter if it’s something super sad or super happy or just plain super touching, I’m pretty much going to cry at it.
Unless it’s something like Katie Couric and her sidekick Kelly Cobiella trying desperately to evoke sympathy from their viewers by discussing the plight of illegal immigrants who “no longer feel welcome here.”
To that I say, “Boo. Freakin’. Hoo.”
Um, Katie and Kellie? If they no longer feel welcome, and they leave the country which they broke into, here’s a newsflash for you. THAT IS GOOD.
Kellie sought out a particularly pathetic illegal to shine her spotlight on for this story. An illegal immigrant, Manuela, who in the 15 years she’s been in this country has given birth to TEN anchors children, but still doesn’t speak a lick of English. She told Kellie that she’s leaving Arizona because of the new law. She doesn’t feeeeel like a criminal, she said (with the help of a translator) because “a criminal is someone who kills. I just want to work.”
The bad news? She’s not leaving the country. She’s just headed to Colorado.
It reminds me of that great editorial my sister showed me the other day:

I live in your house, contributing only a
Fraction of the cost of my keep, and
There is nothing you can do about it
Without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and
Bigoted behavior.
But yeah. Apparently you’re only a criminal if you KILL someone.
It’s going to be quite something when Arizona seriously reduces its illegal immigrant population because they had the testicular fortitude to DO something about this, and all the other states end up inheriting the riffraff. Do you suppose THEN the federal government might decide to MAN UP?

Well, that would depend on whether we have a nuthouse or a government by then. Unfortunately, Katie hasn’t figured out that the term “illegal alien” means that an alien from another country is here illegally…meaning against the law…meaning criminal. They don’t have to do anything when they get here…they’re already illegal. Funny how you and I understand that, but little miss “I’m-so-high-and-mighty-and-totally-irresponsible” can’t grasp that. She needs to go back to her Today Show fluff pieces…
You would think the lib media would be smart enough to choose a better “example” of an illegal. Why choose a woman who has been here for 15 years, has had TEN kids here and still speaks no English? THAT is exactly what ticks conservatives off! If they were SMART they would have paraded around an illegal who spoke English well, had a small intact family, and worked hard and truly wanted to be a US citizen… or maybe they simply couldn’t find one.

InSANEmom, unfortunately, that woman is the prime example of most illegals in this country. I say “good riddance,” and while you’re at it, take a deadbeat, self-entitled, refuses-to-work welfare recipient with you. Save me some tax money.

It is like putting safety features on a highway for someone that runs across, or safety feature on Niagra falls for illegals that want to cross!!!!
Did you also see on Glenn Beck the reasons the hispanic rallys were so big and organized? It seems that several socialistic, and communist organizations were just by coincidence rallying the same day…weird huh?? Have signs will travel

Just what we need…import more communists since we don’t have enough home grown one’s on our soil. Anyone else see them carrying Che signs as well?
As to the idiot Katie Couric who is practicing a false humility, she just wants more servants she can pay on the cheap to babysit her kids and clean her house. Even she knows there is no point being part of the ruling class if she has no one to rule.
One other thing. Take note how the lack of assimilation in this country is manifesting itself in the form of communist protests as well as terrorism.
The trouble is, they don’t even see the irony in it. They’re that twisted up in their own crazy logic.
One thing that doesn’t seem to be mentioned here is the fact that many illegal immigrants entered this country through legal channels, and are now considered illegal because they have overstayed their visa. It’s still illegal, but is something much more difficult to prevent than putting up a big wall along our border.
Many illegal immigrants come here with a tourist visa (only good for 3 months and gives no rights to work), but end up staying here for years. While there are many who ‘hop the fence’, I would wager they make up a minority of illegal immigrants.
CH, you’re right regarding visa overstays. There are many, but they make up the minority of illegal aliens. It is estimated by the Pew Hispanice Research Center that people who overstayed their visas account for approximately 45% of illegal aliens in the US. The rest enter the country illegally with the majority (85%) of them coming from Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador.
Tish – thanks for the stat. Living in the Midwest, we don’t really see this as much as states in the South (maybe we get some Canadians?). However, 45% is a pretty big minority…large enough to illustrate my point that having better border security not being enough to solve the problem.
