If you didn’t have an opportunity to read the comments made by “Jake Gittes” before I banned him from the site, you should totally read them now before reading this post further. It’ll give you all the background.
“Jake Gittes,” as you’ll see from the link above, really really loves the word “pussies.” So much so, in fact, that after I banned him, he felt compelled to send me an email so he could write it some more. The full text of that email read as follows:
“What about my First Amendment rights? What about the constitooooooshun? There you go being hypocritical again.
Ya bunch of pussies.”
I love it when people Actually Believe that the First Amendment provides them some sort of entitlement to post whatever they want on a site that is owned and operated by someone else. So I responded:
“Please let me know where it says in the Constitution that you have the right to crap all over someone else’s blog. Thanks!
And I’m assuming you keep using the “pussy” word because you haven’t had access to one in awhile. Sorry.
Try being a grownup. You might enjoy it.”
Now I’ll admit, I was totally joining in on his reindeer games there. But I was feeling particularly snarky this morning and up for some good old fashioned email sparring. But then the dude just got downright creepy, and said this (emphasis mine):
“Tell me where in the Constitoooooooshun it sez that the Federal Congress can’t pass healthcare reform. Tell me where it sez that the Federal Congress cannot require someone to have health insurance or to participate in a national plan. Tell me where in the Constitooooooooshun it sez that Christians can force their religion onto the public using public funds.
You Rethugs are just so hypocritical.
And, as for pussy, I get all I want because I get it by pointing a gun at it and threatening it or else. You know, law of the jungle, survival of the fittest, all that free enterprise bull shit that your kind always tries to force down the throat of the vast unenlightened masses that you manipulate constantly with your bull shit right wing false rhetoric.”
Ummmm….Holy crap. This is when I realized that I was dealing with a total nutcase, who apparently thinks that joking about raping women is completely acceptable. Or worse, who actually DOES what he says in that last paragraph. I mean, you just don’t know with these kinds of wackjobs.
And here’s where it gets interesting. For some reason, when he responded that time, his full name showed up along with his email address (before it had only been the email address.). So I googled him, and it took approximately two seconds to discover that not only is he a liberal west coast wackjob, he is also a PRACTICING ATTORNEY.
I responded as follows:
“This is fabulous, (wackjob’s name). I am going to use this letter as my ‘hate mail of the week’ post! Talking about rape is just icing on the cake!
Aren’t you an attorney? Talking about raping women seems kinda, I don’t know, against the law and stuff.”
So he said, “Make sure you don’t edit anything I said. I want to see that you clearly include any and all of the hypocrisies of the positions that you morans take.”
Now, as much as I hate to give more attention to this lunatic, as it’s obvious that’s what he wants, I thought this was a great opportunity to show our readers an example of the kind of garbage that gets thrown our way from the compassionate left.
Ahhhh those union-loving, liberal west coasters – ya gotta love their reasoned, thoughtful, rational discussion of the issues.

I get the same kind of freaks spewing all over my site. Sometimes I love to watch a full 4,000 character comment come in, full of vile name calling and all that tolerant, compassionate leftist stuff. I imagine the guy pounding his key board, while peeing his pants as he puts all that effort into telling me off, and then I simply ignore and delete it. It gives me the giggles.
I believe that this creature’s spoutings should be submitted to the American Bar Association for disciplinary action. Not that anything would happen, but since he didn’t hide his identity in the e-mail, his name should be made public. The ABA should be asked to comment on his pronouncements.
I’m with you on all of it, except lets not judge everyone on the left coast. I live in the south and I can assure you that there are a lot of conservatives on the west coast kicking and screaming just like the rest of us. My kids are two of them. I went to a TEA Party in Los Angeles and it rocked!

My favorite thing to remind bad actors is that while you may have a right to speech, you have zero right to be heard… you have to earn that.

I think you should take all of it and mail it to the state bar where he practices, and his boss, if he has one. (I’d be happy to do the research.) I’m sure both would love to hear that he is raping women at gunpoint.

Do yourselves a favor and don’t engage jerks like that! Just delete their posts, ban them, and ignore them. Don’t sink to their level with responses like: “And I’m assuming you keep using the “pussy” word because you haven’t had access to one in awhile. Sorry.”

You know — just for S&Gs you should send his letters to … IDK the police and local bar association in the town he resides/practices. If they have unsolved rape cases, this may be a new lead. the bar association may not want him to be a representative for their group (even if they secretly agree with him). Just not good PR for them.
I love how liberals like to talk about the right to free speech, until you disagree with them. This guy feels it’s fine to spew vulgarity like a longshore man, but has a problem with us respectfully disagreeing with the way healthcare reform has been thrown together. WTH? They only resort to name calling when they want to distract us from the real issues.
As an aside, knowing that this man is an attorney and should espouse a much higher professional standard (or any!) than he has shown here I feel you would be COMPLETELY justified in sending his comments not only to the bar association of his state, but to his local police department as well. Not sure that the boys and girls in blue can necessarily act on the tip, but at least it goes into his record. Anyone who jokes about raping another person is a sick bugger. And if it’s not a joke you may save another woman from being attacked by that creep.
Not to be petty, but does anyone else think it’s a fabulous idea to start a facebook page entitled ” is a self proclaimed rapist!” ? But using the wackos real name? Seriously, lets put that free speech theory to test here! He did, after all, give you permission to use it
I don’t know what shocked me more: that he was an attorney or that he was an ADULT! I thought he was some punk illiterate kid on the street.
Did you turn this over to the law enforcement? Never know, just because he is a slimeball attorney, he could be a true rapist or child molester. I live in California and have to put up with these types all the time. The Conservatives are growing now as people are waking up. We will have a huge Tax Day Tea Party here locally on Thursday. It was huge last year for the first one but everyone since has gotten even bigger.

I get reponses like this on my blog as well. And while there might be lefties that don’t act like this, there is venom in their words that just isn’t present on the righty blogs I read. In fact they are often replete with violent physical threats, disturbingly gross references to the human anatomy, and a general death wish to those who disagree with them. My favorite from last week was “war whore”. That comment came in from a user whose avatar was Malcom X. The strangest part? He is one of those anit-war peace and love lunatic types. His facebook page indicated that he lives in LA and was plastered with pictures of their violent anit-war protests (ya know, where the cops have to use tear gas to dispell the increasingly violent crowd.) While he claimed to hate Obama, he was much more hateful to anything conservative.
He insulted specifically the US flag, apple pie, soccer moms, my right to freedom of speech, and he refused any direct challenge to his own point of views. Even when I continued on a very light note, attempting to invoke actual debate, he just continued to spit vemon with every comment back to me.
That’s my experience with most lefties. Nice and peaceful. It’s really sad. I wonder what kind of world they really want to live in, because it makes absolutely no sense to me to have your freedoms curtailed and all but stopped, ironically in the name of what they call social justice and freedom. It just makes no sense.
Send a full copy of that email, including the back-end headers, to Patrick Frey (Patterico: http://patterico.com/). He’s a conservative blogger who is also a Los Angeles District Attorney. I think he would be very interested and might be able to take some kind of action, or give you some pertinent advice.
Did the name of his firm show up when you googled him? If so, I’d consider sending an email to anyone of importance listed on the firm’s web site, in addition to the site’s webmaster *and* the ISP. Make sure you include all the message(s) headers of the emails you were sent.

you really should report the IP address… what he has done is a crime… it may not be his real name and occupation, but the person behind the green curtain is not right… in any sense of the phrase.
and since you have his name and town, you should call it in to his local police dept… ask for someone that handles sex crimes or vice or something…
Yeah not all of us on the West Coast are like this, but I must admit we have more than our fair share of haters here. I have to agree with Janice. I doubt he is an attorney, but if he is, it shows that anyone can go to class and vomit back out what a prof says and pass. No thinking required. I also doubt it, because mad bikini is correct, what he did is a crime, and any attorney would know this.
I would not ignore this, I would pursue it. It is time to rid our society of these losers who are damaging everything they come in contact with, including our culture and our kids.

Along the same lines as everyone else…. Call a press conference. Contact your own attorney and local police in addition to police in his area. Hate crimes need to be etc,etc,etc.
…but then again, you may actually have a real life that you’d rather choose to enjoy vs. engaging in a hate fest….guess it kinda depends on the last time your ulcer gave you grief or husband stayed out past his curfew

jake should actually know the constitution before attempting to lamely hide behind it like it’s his mother’s skirt.
the constitution gives him the right to PUBLICLY speak out for or against the government without fear of retribution….by the government. a forum is not a public place, like some street corner.
however, in a privately owned place, be it a business or even a web site, it is the owner or moderator who can set the rules as to what is acceptable or not. no one has any constitutional rights in a privately owned and run forum.

I live in Indiana but do legal transcription for workers’ comp cases in California and just happened to have the link because I have to look up attorneys’ names all the time. Sure hope he’s not one I do transcription for – I would have to deny his work.

I do think reporting him to the state bar is a good idea. If he’s going to use his real name in any way associated with this stuff, it threatens the credibility of the Bar Association in that state, if it has any.

I myself was once a Democrat but found I couldn’t agree with so many issues and stands they took that I had to leave and am now Republican but just plain conservative. I’m not sure the Repubs are even conservative enough for me – they spend too much money too and take deals too. Anyway, to Hope, I know not all liberals are as hateful as that man. Though I may disagree with your stand on things, you have the right to that stand as an American.

I think things happen for a reason, and quite possibly, I am not saying for sure, but it was devine intervention that made his name pop up on his email(or him forgetting to block it) because he really is some type of freak, at the very least, too very angry with violent thoughts and someone that needs to be brought to the attention of the local authorities and the bar.
I’m sure you all know this and I am stating the obvious, but Jake Gettes is the Jack Nicholson character from Chinatown, didn’t see the movie but I wonder if that affiliation/self connection has any weirdnesss attached to it??
