Mock Watches Basketball With The Governor. You Know – Just An Ordinary Day In The Life.

So if you’re into college basketball and have a bracket filled out, you probably know already that Butler University is kicking some serious assular area right now. Itty bitty Butler U, from right here in good ole Indianapolis, is headed to the Final Four.

A large gathering of fans hung out to watch the game this afternoon at a local bar, and among them was none other than our Governor and hopefully future President, Mitch Daniels. It’s a big deal for Indiana to have a small-town basketball team make it this far, and Mitch attends as many Butler games as he can. There was press all over the place, including a national CBS affiliate, and they were talking to Mitch about the game. As you well know, I get completely geeked out over Mitch whenever I’m around him. I love him SO MUCH. And so I gave him a big hug and told him how much I loved his latest WSJ column, but that he left off #7 on that “to-do” list. And so he said, “I did?” And I reminded him that yes, we had talked about his next budget including a line for funding for Chicks On The Right, and that obviously he’d be now forced to leave that off, what with Obamacare basically about to bankrupt our state and whatnot. So he said, “You know – I actually DID have that on there, but those editors must have deleted it.”

This is why I love him.

Anyway, I told him that I would naturally need another facesmashing picture with him, and he said that he would never deny me one, and then we talked about our mutual desire for Kentucky to lose (which he gets a hard time about from KY press, and which I don’t get a hard time about because no one cares what I think about basketball). I told him that I really only wanted KY to lose because I can’t stand Ashley Judd, and he remarked that that was as good a reason as any to not want them to win.

Again, this is why I love him.

Anyway, the Bulldogs won, and it was totally amazing, and Mitch stood up on a chair and high-fived as many people as he possibly could, and it was total mayhem and SO MUCH FUN.

There are skeptics who don’t think Mitch has the charisma it takes to win over people enough to vote for him for President. And to them I will continue to say, “Competence is the new Charisma.” I’m kinda hoping that gets picked up as a campaign motto.

MY MAN MITCH, 2012, baby!
