This sign is from the NBC cafeteria in New York, and naturally, the easily-offended have practically JUMPED OUT OF THEIR SKIN to cry, “RAAAAAACIST!!!!!!” about it.
Here’s Leslie Calhoun, the cafeteria cook, responsible for creating this HORRIFYINGLY RACIST MENU:
She said, “All I wanted to do was make a meal that everyone would enjoy — and that I eat myself.” How sweet is that? And how can I arrange for her to come to my house and make this EXACT MEAL?
Some moron named Ahmir Thompson, who’s a drummer for the Jimmy Fallon show and who goes by the name “Questlove” snapped the picture of the menu outside the cafeteria and posted it to his Twitter account. It spread like wildfire, and the menu was then removed by ball-less executives after they got “racism” complaints. Kevin Goldman, NBC’s vice president of communications, tweeted: “The sign in the NBCU cafeteria has been removed. We apologize for anyone who was offended by it.” GAWD.
Leslie continued, “Questlove, who I serve every day and who enjoys my food, requested the neck bone [cooked in] the black-eyed peas and fried chicken, then got off the line, saying, ‘This is racist.’ The next thing you know, people were taking pictures of the sign and asking all the other black people in the cafeteria if this was racist. They said that it wasn’t.”
Leslie even said that she’s been asking FOR YEARS to make special meals specifically for Black History Month, and was finally allowed to do so, only to have this happen. When she was asked if she understood why people would get riled up over her menu plan, she said simply, “I don’t understand it at all. It’s what I eat.”
See? This is what I’m talking about you guys. OUT OF CONTROL political correctness, and holier-than-thou feigned moral outrage over NOTHING.
You know who else likes fried chicken and collard greens, by the way? Michael Steele. Remember that whole firestorm?

Leslie sounds like a sweet and sincere gal, but I’ve just got to chuckle a litte bit that this happened to NBC.
I swear there are some people spending every waking moment looking for an angle to add racist to all the situations they can find. By the way, that’s a great meal. I think someone should have to explain WHY that is offensive.
If that’s the picture of the lady who made the menu, she looks like she’s of African American descent.

What a ridiculous thing to get upset about. This good lady thought she had a good idea and some moron has to create a crisis over it. These liberals are REALLY bored.
“WTF is wrong with people??” That says it all Mock, except you might have kept the string of question marks going for a couple of pages. This PC crap is beyond ludicrous, it is now officially dangerous, as in Ft. Hood and it needs to be reined it, abolished and all of its practitioners consigned to all those now empty Homes for the Mentally Challenged….oops, see it is pervasive! And insane.
Major, collard greens were the staple of my Grandma’s Victory Garden in Miami, back during WW-II. She also had chicken coops, which would not be allowed now, and jalapeno bushes and row after row of blackeye peas. There was a turkey smoker on the back porch, but we couldn’t get any turkeys – they were rationed, so we substituted chicken, to go with the fried chicken. All we had to get from the store was the rice, which wasn’t rationed. Leslie’s menu was everyday fare back then and when the menfolk got home on furlough they were grateful for the home cooking, because the army and navy cooks mutilated all the good food that was directed to them by G-4 at the Pentagon. Hooray for Leslie and lets go find some liberals to tar and feather!
Hahaha. “Soul Fool” cooked by a black woman is racist? So there are many black families in the south that are racist as well. Actually, the only racist in the crowd seemed to be Questlove.
PS I LOVE LOVE LOVE fried chicken,collard greens AND corn break. I’m mostly caucasian. I’m also mostly drunk. Nice, huh?

I find this whole flap unbelievable and the biggest complainers all seem to be black. This menu is deeply southern and is part of black history, and it makes my mouth water to think about eating it!!! YUM!

Come on this menu is ridiculous! Can’t let this go down, not all black people eat this crap! In fact most don’t. The only thing missing on this menu is watermelon for dessert LOL!..and a smiling picture of Buckwheat rubbing his belly saying “mmm-mmm this goooood!” HA-HA…I know NBC well and I am not suprised this Stepping Fetchet-Plantation crap went down in those hyper liberal offices lol. After all, these are the same people that bring you merry Al Roker everyday …that menu is an insult to anyone of reasonable intelligence LOL…come on ya’ll put a handkerchief on that head and that sweet woman is Aunt Jemimah HA_HA_HA!
I dunno what it is Daisy. Hoosiers just plain don’t know how to fry chicken. And neither does Colonel Sanders. Potato salad escapes Hoosiers too.

I’ve been to my share of ‘Soul Food’ places and this is the exact menu. Some of those places even had signs with black ‘mammies’ pictured.
If some white chick had done this, I can see why some black people might be a little taken aback… But, this is an obviously African-American woman. Uh duh.
Earlier this year I received a voucher in my paycheck for a free meal in one of the hospitals cafeterias- but it can only be used during very specific times:
feb 22-28 Black American Heritage
Mar 29- Apr 4 Jewish American Heritage
May 17- 23 Asian American Heritage
Aug 2- 8 Middle Eastern American Heritage
Sept 27- Oct 3 Hispanic American Heritage
Nov 8- 14 Native American Hertiage
When we first got the vouchers, we were all a little puzzled as to exactly what kind of meals they would be serving that would not be declared racist or demeaning- I could already hear the scores of people crying “we don’t eat like that!”. While it won’t be as big a flap as NBC, I can’t wait.
So Questlove has now apologized and stated that his intention in posting was that he thought it just sounded funny when he thought NBC had made the sign, but wasn’t offended. He has gone to the cook himself with flowers and a big spa gift card to apologize. Unfortunately a lot of other people DID take it very seriously and blew this whole thing ridiculously out of proportion. And just an additional tidbit, he is a drummer for The Roots, which is the house band for the show now, but he is an amazing musician and a pretty cool person. He just wasn’t thinking when he decided to post it
