So now the President is putting a huge scare out to the American people that if this monkey poo monstrosity healthcare reform bill doesn’t get passed, we’re just all going to go bankrupt.
BOO! (I scared you, didn’t I?)
In an interview with Charlie Gibson, he spewed the following:
If we don’t pass it, here’s the guarantee….your premiums will go up, your employers are going to load up more costs on you,” he said. “Potentially they’re going to drop your coverage, because they just can’t afford an increase of 25 percent, 30 percent in terms of the costs of providing health care to employees each and every year. “
The president said that the costs of Medicare and Medicaid are on an “unsustainable” trajectory and if there is no action taken to bring them down, “the federal government will go bankrupt.”
That is so precious.
Do you guys remember when he yelled at Republicans last summer for using scare tactics? It was kind of all over the news, actually. I mean, what a bunch of meanies those Republicans are trying to scare the American public. SHAME on them.
I could continue here, but I think you get the point…
The hypocrisy is so deep, I now need some of those ridiculously-expensive, couture, thigh-high boots that Michelle Obama got from France to wade through it all.
It perplexes me that people still take this guy seriously at this point.
GAWD.

We’re going bankrupt yet this morning I read we just agreed to a 100 Billion fund to support poor countries. This was at the global climate conference. Screw your insurance, we have to give your money to other countries. These a-holes are unbelievable.
What color is the sun on Obama’s planet?
I am more inclined to say that we will go bankrupt if that plan passes.
I agree with BB, these a-holes are unbelievable.
Bob, I love you! We’re going bankrupt regardless. Between the stimulus, funding poor countries, and raises to federal employees, we’re screwed. This ridiculous sham of a healthcare plan is just going to dig the hole deeper, and deeper, and deeper. And Bob, calling them assh*les probably makes you a racist in some messed up liberal thinking kinda way! Guess I’m a racist too for thinking it!
I want to live in the world where spending more money will get you out of debt! When is the shuttle leaving?
OMG, Jenny. Me, too. My first stop would be the Nordstrom shoe department. If only I could SPEND my way out of debt. On fabulous shoes.
Oh dear, it seems you missed the point. When Obama and Dems decried Republican scare tactics, they weren’t referring to Republican talk about the budget, deficits, etc. They were talking about ridiculousness like “death panels”, Sen. Tom Coburn saying “You’re going to die sooner,” or that the bill will “kill more people than it saves.” You know, telling people that they or their grandma will die. Things that are not based in reality and just designed to terrify people…aka scare tactics. (and for the record, yes, Alan Grayson’s statement that the Republican plan is not to get sick or if you do, die early– scare tactic. The feigned outrage from Republicans who had said very similar things- hilarious)
There is nothing hypocritical in critcizing Republicans scare tactics like “Grandma will die” and then later saying that our current health care system will bankrupt us. Again, it seems you misunderstand the meaning of hypocrisy.
Sorry to pull a “Laurel” and comment twice in a row, but– a great example of hypocrisy right in front of us! On this blog you have talked about how Medicare/Medicaid are such huge failures, are going bankrupt, etc…and then when Pres. Obama AGREES with you in part, saying that it is unsustainable and is rapidly increasing the deficit, you claim that he is just trying to scare everyone. Oops.
Here’s an idea — what if we didn’t have Medicare, Medicaid, welfare, WIC, or any other government assistance programs? What if we worked for what we needed, saved for the future, and paid the price if we didn’t? It obviously worked for my ancestors…I’m thinking it would still work today.
SG – Thanks so much for continuing to enlighten me with your deep and vast intelligence about semantics! And for the record, only my husband is allowed to call me “dear.”
SG,
It’s time for your lesson.
But first, I’ll give you credit for making a fair point about the scare tactic thing working both ways. You’re 100% right. Also, kudos for pointing out that, on some level, we and President Obama agree that entitlements have the potential to bankrupt this country, or more accurately, drive it far deeper into debt. Nice job on those, you’re fairly sharp.
However, you have just done something that I consider to be totally inexcusable when it comes to political commentary. You’ve invoked the “I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I!?” doctrine and it’s 100% BS! Here are the flaws:
1 Yes, something needs to be done to fix the problems with Medicare, however, spraying money around like it’s liquid lawn fertilizer may not be the best plan, despite what President Obama might suggest.
2 Scare tactics: Good or Bad? If you’ll take a position here, I’ll be happy to tell you that you should feel free to be irritated with BOTH sides in this whole thing. Sadly, there is no THIRD option. We’re stuck having to chose from a President who believes that the solution to endless debt is…MORE DEBT!
3 While the left celebrates Alan Grayson, their outrage at Republicans for using scare tactics-hilarious.
Do you see the flaw in your logic? You’re using the behavior of one person to explain or condone that of another. That logic is total fallacy.
The point here is, President Obama hated scare tactics and he’s absolutely unleashing them here.
So, I’m left wondering if those who really wanted this guy to bring HOPE and CHANGE to America are happy that he’s brought us a new dose of partisanship and big government overmanagement?
Thanks for bringing a new perspective to the site, but please, spare us all from this pointless argument.
He’s saying that because he knows our country is going bankrupt anyway…..so when it happens he can say. “told you so” like he could have prevented it instead of being the one who actually caused it…..
I <3 Rachel and Majordawg's comments. Well said people!
SG: What is the matter..do I get under your skin? GOOD!
There is a couple of problems with your logic or lack there of. For starters you are using two wrongs to make a right, or as O’Reilly likes to say justifying bad behavior with more bad behavior.
Next up, the one area where you are right is I don’t like entitlement programs. They have promised a whole lot of crap and never have delivered, and they are bankrupting this nation monetarily as well as mentally. However, show me where I have said ever that I would just rip the rug out from underneath people and end them. You can’t because I haven’t. First of all it would be illegal, since people pay into them, including myself. Secondly the impact would be enormous, unless you like the elderly being homeless, and that impact would actually cost this country more money than the program it seeks to end.
Those death panels have been proven over and over to be real. When some bureaucrat denies you treatment due to cost, that in essence is a death panel, and they are inevitable with socialized medicine. Also if they weren’t for real, why did they pull that portion of the bill? You cannot remove what doesn’t exist.
Lastly, who in the hell made you the arbiter of how many times people are allowed to post? What’s it to you anyway? This is Daisy and Mock’s site and if they don’t it like I am thoroughly sure they will let me know. In your zeal to try and come after me you tripped over your own two left feet. Nice job.
Face some facts about this administration and all of it’s ideas including health care. It isn’t about helping people, and it never was. It is about controlling people and it is about saving their own hides. What better way to cover up the political and monetary malfeasance of government accounting than to simply wipe the books clean. This is about covering their boondoggles, and the boondoggles of local governments and unions who also made a whole lot of promises they couldn’t keep as well. Every program created by Democrats and their minions are unsustainable and the bill is coming due. You can run but you can’t hide.
Laurel, “some bureaucrats” do frequently deny people health care because of high costs — they work for insurance companies, and that’s kind of their job. So, using your logic, I’m going to go ahead and refer to insurance bureaucrats as “death panels” from here on out. Incidentally, it’s interesting the Canadian or European people haven’t said much about the death panels that must have inevitably come about with their socialized medicine. Guess they don’t mind much.
It doesn’t look to me like SG was justifying bad behavior with more bad behavior — I believe he (she?) was noting the difference between an actual scare tactic, which deserves to be called out, and a fact, which doesn’t. He merely noted that Grayson used a scare tactic, just like the Republicans. He didn’t justify the use of it, just pointed out that it’s pretty funny when Republicans (or whatever the heck you people are) get their panties is a twist about the same things their people do all the time. SG’s comment was meant to point out the difference between an illegitimate scare tactic and a legitimate comment made by Obama. Majordawg rightly (as usual) pointed out that it’s possible to see the hypocrisy that goes down on both sides. See? No logical fallacy there, just your straw man, blowing in the wind.
I think, by the way, that SG was referring to the fact you comment on every post, usually first, and without fail, Laurel. But hey, to each their own.
Thanks for commenting, SG – it’s been awhile since anyone’s said anything worth talking about around here. Oh, and don’t mind the use of sarcasm in place of an actual argument. The addition of a
makes it okay.
Oh joy…more shallow intellect from Megan. SSDD.
There is a world of difference between self rationing according to your wallet and the government promising you the moon and not delivering. As I have said on these blogs before we currently have rationing, but that rationing is decided by the individual, and it is amazing what one will decide to do without if they have to actually pay for it themselves. I have also said that insurance companies are hardly blameless. I have little sympathy for them because some have misled the public and it has tainted the whole industry. However, a little brains could go a long way here. No one can expect unlimited product for a minimum fixed asset. Perhaps Megan you should pay closer attention and stop reading into things that you hope are there. Also if you haven’t heard GB complaining about death panels and care denial then you haven’t been paying attention there as well. GB even has had cases go their Supreme Court over it.
As to my blogging habits, WHAT IN THE HELL BUSINESS IS IT OF YOURS AND WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH THE PRICE OF RICE ANYWAY?
As to MD, I think he is a smart man but I occasionally disagree with him. This is still America and not your Utopian vision of socialism and limited speech, so I am allowed to do that, as is he. I am not discounting at times there is hypocrisy on both sides at times, but in this instance I disagree. The real hypocrisy here is the ‘can’t we all just get along’ and the call for ‘bipartisanship’ when the radical left, that claims the mantle of freedom, has no intention of either, and does have the intention of cramming everything down everyone’s throat. Yeah they like agreement, so long as you agree with them in lock step like a lemming, because they just know what is best for everyone. You fit that requirement nicely, or so you think, if one can categorize that as thinking.
