Another Holiday Gift Idea

Barbie in a Burka!  Fabulous!

It’s no joke, unfortunately.  One of the most recognizable symbols of womens’ oppression is now being auctioned off at Sotheby’s for the Save The Children charity.

I’m assuming that Jihad Ken and Suicide Bomber Skipper will be forthcoming.  Ken will be particularly important, because, you know, you’re probably not allowed to play with Burka Barbie without a male figure present anyway.

GAWD.

  • I don’t what is worse. The fact that someone would make this symbol of oppression or the fact that they would profit off of the oppression.

All the problems in this country lead back to one single place. Lack of morality.

  • First of all, there’s nothing wrong with what the doll in the middle has on, that’s not a burqa, you ignorant backwoods hillbilly twit. While there is nothing wrong with what the one in the middle is wearing, the burqa on a doll is too much and is offensive, but you should learn to distinguish between a burqa and regular muslim covering. It’s so typical and unoriginal of you to link a hijab and Islam in general with “hijacking” and “suicide-bombing”, seriously, grow up already, you’re like what, 40? And just a suggestion, while burqa’s are offensive and awful, maybe it wouldn’t kill you to try one on from time to time, especially since it’s apparent from your pics that your sun-dried tomato-red face could really use a little less sun, just sayin’.

  • fredericka,

    Wow! Really?!?

I’m going to assume that the above pic is sort of a stock picture that the ladies found of the aforementioned dolls. So, while the center one may not be a burqa, the other two ARE burqas. So, it seems fair to stipulate that the photo does the job.

Now, there’s no mention of hijacking. YOU made that connection. So, I’ll ask why YOU made that connection?

As for the suicide-bombing connection. Yeah, it’s a little insensitive, but: 1) That’s part of what goes on here, insensitivity. 2) Do some quick research on the last 5,000 suicide bombings done around the world. You’re gonna come up with a disproportionate number of misguided Muslims.

Now, I’d argue that Islam does NOT endorse nor allow for that level of violence, but the reality is that acts of that kind are done in the name of Islam far too often. I’ve said for some time that the time is LONG past for moderate Muslims to stand up and take back the image of their faith. My own Catholicism took a big black eye in recent years, but Catholics have done a great job of fighting that image.

And finally, your degeneration to name calling pretty much renders you a howling moonbat. No one takes what you have to say seriously when you do stuff like that.

    Good day.

  • fredericka – I’m going to suggest that you read this reeeeaallly slowly, because it’s apparent you have some comprehension issues.

No where in my post did I make reference to the middle doll. My post was about the fact that there are barbies with burkas. As you can see from the photo, that’s a fact. It makes no difference if the middle doll happens to be in a bikini – I’m not referring to it. I’m referring to the barbies in burkas. I think I was pretty clear about that.

Majordawg is right -you might want to check yourself on the whole “hijacking” thing since I never made mention of it.

It’s hilarious to me that you’re hurling insults and namecalling like a 3 year old and yet telling ME to grow up. What’s most odd is that you apparently agree that burkas are offensive. If that’s the case, what are you throwing such a freaking tantrum about in the first place?

  • fredericka – they have medication for that. Look into it.

  • Daisy: there isn’t enough medication on the planet for Fredericka, especially with rationed care coming down the pike. Perhaps we should save the meds for those that have useful contributions to society at large.

Fredericka: Bottom line you ignorant twit, is regardless if it is the doll in the middle being discussed, or the burqa wearing dolls being discussed, women in most of the ME are not allowed the choice of what to wear or not wear. Do you know why that is? I am betting you don’t, if you do feel free to post it.

  • Laurel, Like most people who feign equality and nondiscrimination, Fredericka doesnt know why she is outraged about the post, she just knows thats how she should feeeeeeeel because she’s been sitting in the kumbuyah circle for too long…

I want to resort to name calling too, but i am an adult and will refrain…but will say that too bad burkas dont coverup the uglies on the inside.

  • Fredericka, please do us all a favor and don’t post if you are going to be as nonsensical is that. You lost any credibility with the name calling. Its too bad you had to come in like that, because maybe people would have listened to what you had to say if you hadn’t presented it in such a way. You give a bad name to people who do want to disagree, but not in such a harsh way.
