George ‘N Laura Visit Fort Hood

2009-11-12_071202

According to this,  George and Laura Bush visited the families of the victims of the Fort Hood terror attack a few nights ago, and also visited with the injured soldiers.  The Bushes asked for secrecy because, you know, unlike our current president they don’t really like a fuss made over them.

Reading about this story made me contemplate just how vastly different I think GWB’s address at Fort Hood may have been from Obama’s.  President Bush likely wouldn’t have really minced words about whether or not this was a terrorist act.

And one of the things I loved most about Bush was his realness – his willingness to show emotion and passion about things.  Totally different from cool and calculated BO.  And apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks so.  One of my favorite snippets from that article are is when Obama’s various addresses to the nation about the Fort Hood terror attack are mentioned – it said, “Completely missing was the eloquence that Mr Obama employs when talking about himself.”

And of course, I also enjoyed the quote from a Democrat:  ”I never thought I’d hear myself say it, but Obama makes you feel that at least with Bush you knew where he was on something.”

My absolute favorite though, was the closing paragraph: “It could do him (Obama) good to show he has a bit of fire in his belly. Perhaps he might make a decision or two based on gut instinct and deep conviction. In other words, maybe he should try being a bit more like Mr Bush.”

  • George W and Laura = CLASS

  • The best part is, he didn’t want the fanfare and attention — he attempted as much secrecy as possible. I have a very hard time imagining that kind of behavior from BO.

  • The media likes to focus on the negatives of George Bush. They also like to blame him for every single thing while ignoring Congress, it fits their agenda template.

One of the biggest pluses for me in regards to George Bush is that you have absolutely no doubt that he loves this country and where he stands on the issues. You have no doubt that he loves the military and isn’t just giving you lip service when he praises them.

  • I never felt that George was the best speaker, but he definitely made sure you knew exactly how he felt. Barry’s the opposite – all schmooze and no direction. One of my favorite quotes is from Gene Simmons. “When you walk through a bad neighborhood, you don’t want a poodle by your side. You want a Rottweiler.” on why he was voting for Bush in 2004.

  • Punky: EXACTLY! Thanks for the reminder!!!!

  • Also take note of the fact that they went to the site days earlier than Obama. Barack and Michele must have had something really pressing on their schedule, like helping the House to destroy our country with healthcare “reform.”

  • You know, the great thing about conservatives is they are able to admit when their guy or girl messes up and sometimes George did disappoint us. But, as Daisy says, he and Laura were ALWAYS a class act. They were people you wanted as your next door neighbors…God loving…God fearing…lovers of the troops and their country. I miss them so much…

  • Can’t remember if I’ve seen you post this link yet or not, but I’ll pass it along just in case…

  • Classy family who I like a lot, but his dad was a far superior President.

  • This is my favourite part of your post:

-My absolute favorite though, was the closing paragraph: “It could do him (Obama) good to show he has a bit of fire in his belly. Perhaps he might make a decision or two based on gut instinct and deep conviction. In other words, maybe he should try being a bit more like Mr Bush.”

Yes, let’s examine where Bush’s “gut instinct” and “deep conviction” (aka disregarding all the facts put in front of him and a penchant for avoiding rational thought in favor of giving in to paranoia and speculation) has gotten us, shall we?

-A completely illogical, unjust and illegal war in Iraq, subsequently killing hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children, not to mention the thousands of soldiers who were led to their death due to Bush lying, oops, I’m sorry, i meant due to his gut instinct and deep conviction. Footing the enormous bill for this war, as well as the slightly more justifiable, although ultimately bungled (by the Bush administration) war in Afghanistan, ultimately lead to one of the biggest financial meltdowns in US history, and subsequently, the entire world. So yeah, yay for knee-jerk reactions and fear-mongering, as we can see, it can only lead to good things!

ps-Bush isn’t being “humble” about not making a big stink about his little visit, the scum practically got ran out of office on Obama’s inauguration, the man can’t even get arrested in Washington anymore, as they say. He is truly irrelevant, a bad memory to most Americans, but do go on being delusional, it’s pretty adorable (and sad)

  • A few thoughts for Loving It.

    1. You’re still reading our site? Wow. I can’t decide if I’m flattered, or just plain creeped out.
    2. You’re still spouting the “Bush lied!” and “It’s Bush’s fault about the financial meltdown!” crap? Do I need to post the video about how the financial meltdown occurred AGAIN?
    3. Maybe being in Canada has made you a little bit out of touch with the sentiment of today’s American people. Check the polls. The tide is turning quickly against Obama, because people are figuring out they got snowed on Inauguration day. So you, being in Canada, spewing what YOU think is a “bad memory to most Americans” is kind of laughable.

I’d love to return the “adorable” compliment, but unfortunately “sad” is the only descriptor that fits your post.

  • Loving It: “A completely illogical, unjust and illegal war in Iraq, subsequently killing hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children, not to mention the thousands of soldiers who were led to their death due to Bush lying, oops, I’m sorry, i meant due to his gut instinct and deep conviction.”

Yeah I always love it when liberals use per hyperbole, exaggeration and emotion as if it were total fact. Why don’t you look up the death toll in Iraq lame brain?! Oh right…it won’t fit your emotional illogical template. I stand by Bush’s decision to go into Iraq…TO THIS VERY DAY! It is very easy for you to arm chair quarterback from Canada and your little safe seat provided by America. When Canada has 3000 people incinerated let’s hear what chances they will take for the future.

I won’t go into the long term impact of Iraq because your little pea brain wouldn’t understand it, and your head might explode and make a mess in your mother’s basement.

I will tell you Bush is far from irrelevant since Obama is doing a stellar job making him look good! Heck he is even making idiot Carter look good, and I only thought that Jesus could do that. And at least Bush has convictions, Obama’s convictions change with his underwear hence the reason he is laughingstock of the world, and has no respect from any foreign leaders. Obama doesn’t know what he stands for, so he stands for nothing.

  • What galaxy are those of you living in who think George Bush was anything more than a joke for a president? Those on the right have always had a problem with the truth. Either they don’t know the truth from a lie or they don’t care if there is a distinction. They just keep right on lying as if that’s the American way. Or, they just blame someone else and cover their own lies by saying how much of an American they are. Do you not think health care reform is important? It will have a hard time succeeding because of all the lies and fear-mongering that’s going on out there. Obama is trying to back this country out of muck and mire created by George Bush and his get-rich-quick buddies. If you don’t believe that, you are looking at the country through different glasses than mine.

  • lol, another KOS kiddie, how cute

  • You don’t have glasses on, RU Kidding. Those are called blinders.

No one on this blog has ever said we don’t need reform. But we’ve seen what Obama is selling, and we don’t want it.

When you decide to emerge from your Obama coma, check back in with us.

  • You can call them blinders, but I’m seeing quite clearly and it doesn’t take much to see through what the GOP is pushing. What exactly is being offered by Republicans…..oh let’s say…….health reform? Maybe a more pertinent question would be: What have Republicans done to reform health care when they have had the power and money to do so? They are quick to fall in line to criticize, but when the GOP had control of the White House and both houses of congress, you heard nary a word. Let’s be real, here. Trying to insure 30-50 million Americans who are uninsured doesn’t fit into the GOP vision. Are you denying there has been an orchestrated plan to scare people into rejecting health reform?

  • Hey – RU Kidding – do you mind if we take this conversation over to this post, which isn’t 3 months old? http://chicksontheright.com/2010/02/07/love-27/

Perhaps that’ll give you an opportunity to check out Paul Ryan’s Roadmap, too. They probably don’t mention that over at the Daily Kos.

  • R U Kidding: SO is that what your Mama said when you were born? Or is that what she said with every report card?

Forcibly insuring 30-50 million Americans by way of forcibly removing money they have earned is unconstitutional. Already groups are geared up to fight this all they way to the SCOTUS. So if you by chance get a tax payer funded health care, aka giverment care, it doesn’t mean you will get to keep it. You cannot force people to buy what they don’t want, and it won’t insure that they get preventative care and go to the doctor, which is the whole false bottom premise of government health care in regards to keeping costs low.

  • Hey Laurel, in an earlier comment you talked about how liberals use emotion and exaggeration as though it is the truth. What then, is name-calling? Your use of ‘pea-brain’ and ‘head exploding in your mother’s basement’ is classic. Nice touch. I can’t tell you how much that impresses me. I have no idea where you came up with your ‘is that what your mama said when you were born or is that what she said with every report card?’ Oh, and did you say Obama has no respect from other leaders. Yeah, that was one of George Bush’s real strengths wasn’t it? The only laughing stock was the Bush administration. I can see trying to carry on any legitimate conversation on this site is useless. I stumbled upon this site by mistake. I will not make that same mistake again. Find someone else to call names. I am OUT.

  • Whew! I thought RU Kidding would never leave. His mommy must have called him to dinner.
