Yeah. It’s 230 pages. As opposed to the 1,990-page monstrosity the Dems are trying to ram down the throats of the American people.
So, what does it include, you ask?
It “increases incentives for people to use health savings accounts, caps non-economic jury awards in medical malpractice cases at $250,000, provides various incentives to states with the aim of driving down premium costs and allows health insurance to be sold across state lines.
“As Leader Boehner has made clear, our proposal will focus on the No. 1 concern of the American people—reducing health care costs, and we do it at a price tag our nation can afford,” said spokeswoman Antonia Ferrier.
“Our proposal will help struggling middle-class families and small businesses by increasing access to affordable, high-quality health care,” Ferrier said.
It also includes a ban on any “federal funding for abortions except in cases of rape, incest or threat to the life of the mother.”
Of course, in true Dem fashion, they responded to the Republican bill with this profound and poignant comment:
It’s “insubstantial.”
and…
“Ours is vastly superior and we think the American public will think that,” House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md said.
A “superior” 10-year plan that costs $1.2 trillion. A bill that is already 1,990 pages long and STILL doesn’t have the proper language in it about federally-funded abortions and whether or not illegal immigrants are going to be covered by honest, taxpaying American citizens.
Superior. Riiiiiiight.
That whole ignorance thing sure is blissful….
Apparently the Democrats think more is better.
Laurel -
Yes they do. MORE taxation.
Daisy: More taxation.
More government.
More meaningless laws.
More debt.
More deficit.
Some genius conservative should run a campaign on the platform “More is not Better!”
I have personally read about 300 pages of the Dem’s bill. It’s flat out rubbish. More bureaucracy than all the nations combined.
The GOP’s bill: Sharp. To the point. Cheaper. More importantly it allows the free market to take care of itself, while still lowering costs. It basically removes some restrictions on insurance companies, but adds others. It’s pretty legit.
I would encourage everyone to read it. I’m proud of my congressional republicans.
The RED DOGS are out for blood.

Nice draft — are the Republicans ever going to finalize a bill? I hope it includes incentives for health savings accounts and tax cuts, because those things are really helpful for people with low income. I’m glad to see tort reform in there as well, because heaven knows the states don’t already regulate malpractice claims. I’m also glad that the Republicans are fine with denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions — we wouldn’t want anyone losing any profits, would we? The free market at its best, for sure.
Less doesn’t mean “better,” just like more doesn’t. Anyway, it sure would be nice to have 72 to hours to look at a completed bill…
Wait – you mean like these? http://chicksontheright.com/2009/10/06/republicans-and-their-total-unwillingness-to-bring-ideas-to-the-table/
Take note of the disposition of all of those bills. You know, the part that says Pelosi refuses to basically look at any of them. And you’re actually asking Republicans to do MORE?
Megan: Grow up…and to first do that one must not talk when they should be listening.
The poor have numerous health programs out there and the statistics show that the government has only had a 62% saturation rate. That means little girl that they are doing a really poor job of getting people signed up that qualify. Next up only one state regulates malpractice claims and that would be Texas, and guess what? Malpractice insurance costs dropped. Last…learn some economics. If insurance let any and everyone sign up for insurance after they are diagnosed they would soon be out of business!!! That is like buying car insurance after you wrecked your car.
Your drive postings and immaturity are just plain tiresome.
Laurel, what else did you expect from a democrat? Coherent thought? They gave that up long ago.
The Rs really need to push this draft and get the word out. I follow the news regularly, and I haven’t seen too much of this or too many Rs out there hammering the great points of it. Granted, that may say more about the media than the Rs, but I would still like to see them challenge and call the dems on the carpet and really compare the two.
Like a health care cage match! The Rs would dominate.
Whelan: I know I just get sick of her Juvenal behavior! It is hard to push it when the media won’t give you air time. So far I have only seen them on Fox pushing it. My suggestion is they take out air time. I would donate money for that.
