Right off the top that oil would have to be put into the world market...so you have to figure out how to keep it here. Next stop it would lower the price of oil, which would make the Saudi's bristle so the the fight over the dollar being the world's currency would kick up in a huge way! Next up the enviro whackos have stopped the building of refineries, so getting it out of the ground into an energy source would be difficult at best to be of any help. As to energy independence, it is going to take electing some extremely courageous people. People are letting the media form their opinions. I also don't think people take into account the hand that Bush was dealt. Do I agree with everything he did?
