Mike Pence Takes A Stand

BEHOLD: Mike Pence explaining his position on voting against a defense bill, because it had completely unrelated gay hate crime legislation attached to it.

According to this, the House voted today to make it a FEDERAL crime to assault people because of their sexual orientation.

If you assault people for some other reason, apparently that’s not as big of a deal. But if you assault a gay person? Well, it’s a federal case now.

I just don’t get that. Assault is assault. If I’m assaulted, why am I any less important than my gay friend who gets assaulted?

And to attach this nonsense to a DEFENSE SPENDING BILL? Are you freaking kidding me?

Thankfully, Indiana Rep. Mike Pence spoke out about it. And not that it’s relevant, but he looked hot doing it.

I’m just saying.

  • Making a stand depends a whole lot on place and time. If Pence had made a stand on principles when the GOP was vetting it’s cadre of corrupt and venal representatives, senators and governors over the last 15 years we would not even be having the discussions that are the red meat of this blog. The Republicans sold out to the highest bidder and we got a Democrat-Fascist regime in the exchange.

  • He is pretty good looking…

  • He made the point very well.
Hate crime legislation is the criminalization of thought.

To say that violence for one purpose is more punishable than violence for another is to say that the motivation is worse than the act. This is just unacceptable.

  • Great presentation. As he said the constitution provides for everyone to have equal protaction under the law so any “hate” crimes based on anything but the crime itself would be unconstitutional.Would it apply for violence at football games between opposing fans? They hate each other.

  • Mock, you sounding like Meredith Vieira now lol lol.

  • Buckeye, you haven’t lived until you have been a zebra in a football game in which both stands emptied onto the field and they came loaded for bear. It was scary, but they were after each other and we officials were left alone. It was all about turf, which, according to the psychology guild, supercedes sex.

  • Papa Kilo: You are absolutely unequivocally wrong about Pence. He did take a stand against unprincipled Republicans, and so did Boehner…they got shuffled to obscure committees and back rooms for their efforts. Newbies in Congress carry little if any weight.

Furthermore…I DON’T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT ANYMORE. DEAD HORSE! The corrupt Republicans have gotten the boot, and the Democrats have made them look like pikers.

BTW…the GOP doesn’t vet anybody. They go with the polls on who has the best chance of winning. They let the media do the vetting because that has been traditionally their role.

  • Great take, girls! LOVE Pence! And I can’t say that about many, even on our side….
