Rep. Alan Grayson Is On A Roll

And by “roll” I of course mean that he continues to be a complete moron. Now, just one day after claiming that the Republican health plan is for people to “die quickly”, Rep. Grayson compares our current healthcare system to the Holocaust.

Who voted for this clown? SHOW YOURSELVES.

Michael Moore Issues A Stern Warning

So, unless Michael Moorebidlyobese sees that there is real movement by people on the left in response to his movies, he’s going to stop making them, you guys.

If you’re conservative, you’re probably giggling right now, because Michael McManboobs trying to threaten anyone to do anything is is like, the silliest thing ever, even if it’s other liberals he’s threatening. If you’re liberal, you’re either thinking, “Holy crap! I must immediately do everything and anything he tells me to do!” OR, you’re smart enough to realize that it’s freaking Michael Mooretwinkiesplease and he’s a total blowhard.

Jury’s out on which way Obama will go on this.

Best. Flag-Burning Punishment. Ever.

A clever and competent reader sent me this story today, and it made me smile. This dude walked into a VFW hall and tried to order something to drink, but he didn’t have the right identification. So, the bartender said no – which was obviously the right thing to do. The dude stormed out of the VFW hall and, in a fit of anger, “cut the rope of the American flag flying overhead and used a cigarette lighter to set it on fire.”

Well, this didn’t sit well with Post Commander Nick Normile, a Vietnam War veteran, who went after him. You see, not only was dude burning an American flag – but this flag once flew over a foxhole in Iraq. Where young people lost their lives and stuff.

So, Normile tracked dude down and offered him three very awesome choices: “get turned over to the police, go one-on-one in a fight with a seasoned war veteran, or be duct-taped to a flagpole for six hours with a sign around his neck identifying his alleged crime: flag burning.”

The dude chose the duct-taping option, and he sat there “as the town held its fall youth soccer picnic with a long parade of children passing in front of him.” Normile wanted him to be “uncomfortable, as he thought about the kids in that foxhole, that had to sit there for days, not being able to go to the bathroom or anything else…and see what they felt like….because (he’s) only getting a small taste of what they went through.”

“He’ll never disrespect the flag again, I can tell you that,” Normile said.

How much do I love Post Commander Nick Normile? More than words can say.

I Have An Idea!

I’ve been thinking, after watching Rep. Wasserman Schultz (D-FL-imsy Argument) about how Democrats could convince me that their plan is truly deficit-neutral.

I think they should scrap any changes to the current healthcare system for a full year. Drop all bills moving through committees right now, and actually work on fixing all of the fraud, waste, and abuse that they claim is going to be the source of the funding for their programs. And then, they should set aside all of the billions of dollars they save by cutting fraud, waste, and abuse, into an interest-bearing savings account. And, after a year, if they have enough money saved up, or can show a trend of savings they’re seeing related to eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse, they can start crafting up their bills again.

Thoughts?

P.S. Focusing on prevention is noble, admirable, aaaaand a total joke. See here.

Indiana Congressman Dan Burton Puts The Smackdown On Rep Alan Grayson

Daisy just posted Alan Grayson (D-FLake) spouting total nonsense about the Republican’s healthplan. But here’s what you didn’t get to see in that video – which is Congressman Burton’s IMMEDIATE response to it.

LOVE.

You May Be A Moron If…

….you make a statement like this in a session of Congress.

You know how Joe Wilson’s “You Lie” comment was possibly the worst thing to ever be said at a joint session of Congress (even though Democrats have now proven the comment to be true, as illegals actually are included in the newest healthcare plan)? Well, the comments made by Alan Grayson (D-FL) are a bit more irresponsible, in my opinion. Watching this conjured up feelings of watching a dumb jock giving an impromptu speech in my high school speech class years ago. It’s as though he’s trying to be funny (at least I think that’s what the smugness means here) when, in reality, he just looks like a complete tool.

Apparently, he – much like Obama – has never paid attention to the things conservatives feel should be part of the healthcare plan. Things like tort reform, letting families and businesses buy insurance across state lines, having access to coverage, regardless of preexisting condition…..you know. Ignored things like that.

And, if you notice, there are no real facts, statistics, data, or anything of value in HIS speech. Nothing worth looking at, really, other than a few posterboards that my Great Dane puppy could probably make (and he doesn’t have thumbs, mind you).

But yeah – let’s just say that Republicans’ plan is for everyone to “die quickly.” Aaaand, chalk up yet another Democrat speech to insults and deflection completely void of actual substance.

Oh, and P.S. – I am STILL WAITING for a specific and detailed explanation on how Dems are planning on paying for their monstrosity of a tax burden healthcare plan. But I suppose it’s above Grayson’s ability to talk about something like that.

2009-09-29_192827

Every now and then, I’ll run across an article or editorial which is SO PERFECT, that I can’t just write about it and throw a few quotes in, because the article in its entirety deserves to be reprinted thousands of times over.  It’s that good.

That’s how I feel about this one.  It positively demolishes the New York Times, and it’s brilliant.  See for yourself:

The New York Times, still smarting after losing scoops to Fox News, has thrown in the towel, vowing to avoid future embarrassment by monitoring the cable channel. We have a better idea — it’s called reporting.

An Illinois senator rises to the highest office in the land on pillars of a spectacularly slimy political organization, a group with a long record of voter fraud, theft, thuggery and partisanship. As sexy as such a story might seem, the New York Times didn’t consider it news.

That’s why the Times got scooped by outlets such as Fox News, for which it has nothing but contempt, on revelations that led to the fall of community organizing behemoth Acorn.

The wound was self-inflicted, rooted in little more than the partisanship of protecting a favored president. It left the field clear for a couple of journalism students to show that Acorn staffers openly encouraged pimping, child prostitution, human trafficking, mortgage fraud and tax evasion.

It’s right there on tapes posted to Andrew Breitbart’s BigGovernment.com. Unlike the disdainful Times, Fox ran with it, toppling a behemoth of political power.

Fox’s judgment now seems to play the role the Times’ once did, and the Times is no doubt left wondering how it could have lost out on yet another one.

It’s not the first: It missed the John Edwards mistress and baby scandal in campaign 2008; it missed the National Endowment for the Arts press conference shilling for Obama; it also missed the debacle over the seamy background of “green jobs” czar Van Jones.

Now it’s missed the Acorn scandals — all because of its “insufficient tuned-in-ness to the issues dominating Fox News and talk radio,” according to managing editor Jill Abramson, who will now “assign an (unnamed) editor to monitor opinion media.”

Baloney. Those Fox stories had impact because they were fact-, not opinion-based. The public agreed, and the politicians were forced to act. The Times’ “monitor” idea smears Fox as an opinion outfit whose product must be handled with tongs.

In fact, it’s ideological bias that keeps Times journalists from covering the news with impact. The newspaper of record should be reporting the news “without fear or favor,” as its motto says — not simply by accepting the liberal line.

If they happen to hit their favorite politicians, too bad. Because if they don’t do this, they aren’t newsmen. By taking a cheap shot at Fox and then bitterly following it instead of leading, the Times blows its credibility even more than its missed scoops do.

Isn’t that just PERFECTION? And it’s no joke – editor Jill Abramsom really did blame their lack of reporting on “insufficient tuned-in-ness to the issues dominating Fox News and talk radio.”

GAWD.

See Robert. See Robert Squirm.

This is comical, really.

Major Garrett is always awesome, but I love this new little spitfire “trying to close the logic loop.” LOVE.

Um, Yeah….This Is WACK, You Guys….

This video recently surfaced, showing the Gamaliel National Clergy Caucus holding “a New Orleans style funeral procession as they deliver a casket symbolizing the death of old ways of providing health care and pray for a new day for health care in America.” This group – the Gamaliel Foundation – is a community organizing group that helped sponsor Barack Obama’s initial work in Chicago. And, if you listen carefully – around the 1:40 mark – you can hear them start chanting in unison, “hear our prayer, Obama.”

My response was pretty clear on this – WHAT IN THE HELL?

But you can go ahead and decide for yourselves how wack or un-wack it is, clever and competent readers. I mean – who am I to judge, right? I still believe that Jesus was a real dude and all. And OBAMA ISN’T HIM.

Wow.

Editor’s Note from the source article linked above: We’ve updated this post with the longer version of the original event. As you’ll see in the comments and related links there is a debate over what is actually being said. Does the crowd say, “Hear our cry, Obama” and “Deliver us Obama?” Or are they saying “Oh God?” In the longer version the first two repetitions seem to have a distinct “uh” sound at the end that resonates as “Obama.” The later repetitions are a little fuzzier. Did some of the religious leaders present become uneasy? Or was there a mix of what was being said? Read some of the blogger analysis below. What do you think?

Closing Gitmo “More Complicated Than Thought”

According to this article, “Defense Secretary Robert Gates says trying to close down the detention center at Guantanamo Bay has proved more complicated than anticipated.”

Another mind-blowing shocker there for you, folks.

Apparently, it’s “going to be tough” for Obama to close it down by his promised date of January. I guess when you’re ignoring the war in Afghanistan, flip-flopping on your healthcare stance, flying to Copenhagen to push for the Olympics, and generally not getting anything else done in your presidency, it’s tough to come up with a plan to actually keep at least ONE of your promises. But I digress.

You know what this article reminded me of? This spoof on American Idol called, “Guantanamo Idol.” I think Mock will especially enjoy it, as she just loves that show.

ATTENTION TOWNSPEOPLE: This Is Your Commander In Chief

Let’s just say you’re the President, and you kiiiind of have a lot on your plate. Please prioritize these items:

1. Talk to your lead commander on the ground in Afghanistan for an hour
2. Talk to David Letterman for an hour

Yyyyyyyyeah.

But you have to give the Prez some credit. He managed to squeeze in a trip to advocate for his hometown to win the Olympics in 2016 – in the midst of a complete overhaul of the healthcare system which for the most part ignores the wishes of the American people, AND in the midst of a coupla wars, AND in the midst of continuing economic uncertainty.

So, you know, we have that.

It May Actually Come To This

I don’t think we’re terribly far off from an Obama ad campaign in which he tries to get the country to re-like him. Will he smoke pot? Probably not. But he might throw a few puppies in for good measure.

If You Still Need Convincing That Today’s Unions Are Shady, Look No Further

Loar v. DHS from Mackinac Center on Vimeo.

BEHOLD: Here’s how Democrats and unions like to play now. This is the brainchild of The Department of Human Services, UAW, and AFSCME. Pretty neat little trick they used to divert nearly $4 million into union coffers.

Now, if they can do this to in-home childcare providers, just imagine who’s next. And then remind yourself why unions are such big proponents of Obamacare.

The Difference Between Liberals and Conservatives…

This was sent to us the other day by a clever and competent reader.   I felt compelled to post and will just let it speak for itself:

  • If a conservative doesn’t like guns, they don’t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, then no one should have one.
  • If a conservative is a vegetarian, they don’t eat meat.
If a liberal is, they want to ban all meat products for everyone.
  • If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.
  • If a conservative is homosexual, they quietly enjoy their life.
If a liberal is homosexual, they loudly demand legislated respect.
  • If a black or Hispanic person is conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.
Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.
  • If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
  • If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.
  • If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’ t go to church.
A liberal wants any mention of God or religion silenced.
  • If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that his neighbors pay for his.

You Know What’s Kind Of Hilarious To Me?

2009-09-19_093318

The latest Rasmussen poll numbers are in, and as people with Actual Brains already suspected, they’re at a new low in terms of approval for Obama’s/Democrats’ health plan.

Maybe Obama should stop talking about it? I mean, it kiiiinda seems like everytime he gives another campaign healthcare speech, people just become more and more disapproving.

But here’s what really stood out for me in today’s results. Check out this quote: “Polling released last week shows that 58% of uninsured voters favor passage of the health care plan. However, 35% of the uninsured are opposed.”

I don’t know about you all, but I think it’s pretty telling that over a 1/3 of Americans WITHOUT INSURANCE don’t even want Obama’s plan. That’s how much of a crock of crap they think it is.

Democrats to Taxpaying Americans: It’s UNFAIR To Not Include Illegals Under Obamacare. Waaaah.

As the back-and-forth, shaky, vague, completely crappy healthcare legislation is still being crafted, Democrats are now saying that “Legal permanent residents should be able to purchase their plans, and they should also be eligible for subsidies if they need it. Undocumented, if they can afford it, should be able to buy their own private plans. It keeps them out of the emergency room,” said Rep. Michael M. Honda, California Democrat and chairman of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.

Obama promised us all that illegal immigrants will not be part of this plan. But it’s not really looking as though he was straight up with that promise (no use pretending to act like we didn’t see THAT coming). The story today is that “illegal immigrants should be allowed to pay for insurance if they can afford it, even if it comes through a government-established exchange.”

Um, maybe this is just me wondering this, but if an illegal immigrant is paying for insurance, don’t you think they should maybe try to become American citizens and pay taxes like the rest of us, too? Just a kooky thought there.

Of course, The National Council of La Raza is getting involved in this push. It’s “launched its own ‘flood their voice mail’ campaign last week to put pressure on Mr. Baucus to expand coverage in his proposal to include all legal immigrants and to drop verification language in the legislation that would prevent illegal immigrants from obtaining coverage.”

Twenty-nine Democrats have showed support for the letter on legal immigrants, while 21 have shown support to cover illegal immigrants.

And the Republican response? Rep. Steve King (IA), had the following to say:

“If anybody can, with a straight face, advocate that we should provide health insurance for people who broke into our country, broke our law and for the most part are criminals, I don’t know where they ever would draw the line,” he said.

Aaaand, I don’t think I can sum it up any better than that.

Power Player Of The Week

Chris Wallace interviewed James O’Keefe as his power player of the week! And apparently, we haven’t seen the last of those ACORN videos. Nor have we seen the last of O’Keefe’s sting operations (despite ACORN’s stupid lawsuit).

O’Keefe totally puts the standard investigative news outlets to shame.

Obama And Clinton Share A Common Trait…

…and that’s their complete inability to correctly define common words. Bill Clinton, as you may recall, struggled with the definition of the word “is.” Obama giggles at the Merriam Webster definition of “tax.”

But at least Obama’s got that big happy smile. I mean, I feel better about paying all these not-taxes when I see his giant gleeful grin.

Because Bo Has Nothing Better To Do…..

2016

He’s going to Copenhagen this week to do a much needed and very important sales pitch for Chicago to win the bid for the 2016 Olympic Games. Being there to hear himself talk some more join the ranks of “heavy-hitting supporters including Oprah, Valerie Jarrett, Michelle Obama and Arne Duncan,” Obama wants to put the nail in the proverbial coffin of this Olympic city choice.

Mayor Daly, who is also going to be in Denmark, said, “President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama symbolize the hope, opportunity and inspiration that makes Chicago great, and we are honored to have two of our city’s most accomplished residents leading our delegation in Copenhagen.”

It’s nice he’s going to Denmark this week to talk about the Olympics – mainly because he has nothing else going on to occupy his time. I mean, it’s not like healthcare or Iran nuclear ambitions or the life-or-death choice of actually providing some leadership on Afghanistan or anything like that is on his plate right now. Unfinished and all.

Yeah – Copenhagen and the 2016 Olympics are a top priority.

Astroturf Exposed!

You know what my new favorite thing is? Undercover video being taken of total morons who are exposed being either a) completely criminal [see ACORN] or b) completely hypocritical [see this video with Stephen Crowder].

Astroturf, indeed.
