Love is in the air, folks.
According to this, Bill Clinton and Al Gore joined together in Nashville after Ted Kennedy’s funeral to assure an audience full of Democrats that Kennedy’s dream of a national healthcare plan would come to fruition.
The praise was heaped on Kennedy, as you might expect, with Gore calling him, “by far the most effective member of the United States Senate that I ever served with.” And, according to Melissa Lafsky on the Huffington Post, perhaps even Mary Jo Kopechne herself would have nice things to say about Kennedy’s career. I KID YOU NOT. Melissa Lafsky, who is officially the most despicable person of the day, suggested that “We don’t know how much Kennedy was affected by her death, or what she’d have thought about arguably being a catalyst for the most successful Senate career in history. So it doesn’t automatically make someone (aka, me) a Limbaugh-loving, aerial-wolf-hunting NRA troll for asking what Mary Jo Kopechne would have had to say about Ted’s death, and what she’d have thought of the life and career that are being (rightfully) heralded. Who knows — maybe she’d feel it was worth it. “ CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT???
But I digress. Back to the lovefest.
Clinton said, “Al Gore is the best vice president this country ever had,” and then heaped some praise on him for orchestrating the release of the journalists from North Korea recently even though they were THERE BECAUSE OF HIM TO BEGIN WITH.
But I digress again.
When it was Al’s turn to speak, he went straight for emotion that liberals know best – guilt – bellowing that the country has “a moral duty to pass health care reform. This year.” A moral duty, he said. Gawd.
He went on, “We have a lot of talk about liberal and conservative, and left and right, but when there are tens of millions of people in our country who can’t get access to health care, we need to pass health care reform this year. Build support for it. Let’s give President Obama the victory our country needs!”
Perhaps he should watch the video we posted earlier about the true number of uninsured.
Those two ought to just make out and get it over with already.
