Bill Clinton’s Latest Romantic Conquest Appears To Be Al Gore

2009-08-31_201848

Love is in the air, folks.

According to this, Bill Clinton and Al Gore joined together in Nashville after Ted Kennedy’s funeral to assure an audience full of Democrats that Kennedy’s dream of a national healthcare plan would come to fruition.

The praise was heaped on Kennedy, as you might expect, with Gore calling him, “by far the most effective member of the United States Senate that I ever served with.” And, according to Melissa Lafsky on the Huffington Post, perhaps even Mary Jo Kopechne herself would have nice things to say about Kennedy’s career. I KID YOU NOT. Melissa Lafsky, who is officially the most despicable person of the day, suggested that We don’t know how much Kennedy was affected by her death, or what she’d have thought about arguably being a catalyst for the most successful Senate career in history. So it doesn’t automatically make someone (aka, me) a Limbaugh-loving, aerial-wolf-hunting NRA troll for asking what Mary Jo Kopechne would have had to say about Ted’s death, and what she’d have thought of the life and career that are being (rightfully) heralded. Who knows — maybe she’d feel it was worth it. “ CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT???

But I digress. Back to the lovefest.

Clinton said, “Al Gore is the best vice president this country ever had,” and then heaped some praise on him for orchestrating the release of the journalists from North Korea recently even though they were THERE BECAUSE OF HIM TO BEGIN WITH.

But I digress again.

When it was Al’s turn to speak, he went straight for emotion that liberals know best – guilt – bellowing that the country has “a moral duty to pass health care reform. This year.” A moral duty, he said. Gawd.

He went on, “We have a lot of talk about liberal and conservative, and left and right, but when there are tens of millions of people in our country who can’t get access to health care, we need to pass health care reform this year. Build support for it. Let’s give President Obama the victory our country needs!”

Perhaps he should watch the video we posted earlier about the true number of uninsured.

Those two ought to just make out and get it over with already.

It’s Not Really A Lie If He’s Just Bending The Truth, Right?

Um, no. Still a lie.

So, you know how Obama is all whiney about how he wants “an honest debate” on health care reform, “not one dominated by willful misrepresentations and outright distortions” and stuff? Um, OK.

Mark Tapscott of the Washington Examiner summarized the findings from the Congressional Research Service and how Democrats’ vague, ambiguous rhetoric has attempted to be the perfume on this huge piece of poo they’re calling healthcare legislation.

Under H.R. 3200, a ‘Health Insurance Exchange’ would begin operation in 2013 and would offer private plans alongside a public option. H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens—whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently—participating in the Exchange.”

So basically, that whole, “Oh, the Republicans are just being mean! This legislation doesn’t cover illegals!” thing is kind of a lie. Or a willful misrepresentation and outright distortion, to be exact.

You know, I think he actually believes the false spewings flying out of his piehole at this point. And we’re only at 9 months. Stellar.

Liz Cheney Is Not Afraid Of Anything, Least Of All Sam Donaldson’s Hair.

Seriously – how can you have a serious conversation with him when his hair looks like that? I ask you – HOW?

Well, if you’re a normal person, you can’t. But if you’re blessed with Cheney-type superpowers, then you simply look past his ridiculous hair, and pummel him with LOGIC AND REASON, which is exactly what Liz Cheney does. Because she’s awesome, and because she miiiiiight be the lone person at that table who has an Actual Clue what she’s talking about.

I love her.

LOVE.

Colin Edwards Is Awesome

Edwards_BW

Mock and I – along with our significant others and my stepson – spent yesterday at the MotoGP race in Indianapolis. We hung out at the Speedway and enjoyed an absolutely glorious day of perfect Indiana fall-like weather, taking in the 200′ish-mph motorcycles zipping around the track like bullets.

Of course, I know pretty much nothing about MotoGP. My 15-year old stepson, however, is like a walking encyclopedia of everything motorcycle or dirtbike-related, so I relied heavily upon him to tell me what was going on half the time. One of the small handful of American riders there was a guy named Colin Edwards, and the IndyStar did a write-up on him this past weekend- focusing primarily on his conservative viewpoints. I had to give him a shout out on our site, as it’s refreshing to see someone in his position speaking his right-wing mind.

A huge supporter of the troops, he’s worn a U.S. Marines hat to most races since September 11, 2001, and even though he says his “outspoken nature has gotten him into trouble,” he continues to be true to himself and his conservative viewpoints. Nicknamed the “Texas Tornado,” Edwards “dislikes the direction of the current administration” and doesn’t hide the fact that “he’s a right-wing guy and proud of it.” In a sea of athlete-celebrity types who are mostly liberal in their views (insert ingorance and peer pressure here), Edwards stands out and is totally O.K. in doing so. Love.

He’s a rarity. But, he’s one rarity that I’m happy to see my stepson emulate. I mean, let’s get real. We chicks on the right dig guys who love our country, take pride in our American military, appreciate the values on which this country was founded, and understand the notion of fiscal and personal responsibility.

But a tricked-out, really fast motorcycle doesn’t hurt his case, either…

The Uninsured

I so totally want to punch that 26 year old chick, Faye Chow, in the face. “I didn’t bother to pay for my hospital bill” she says. And, “I don’t see why basic health coverage isn’t free to me.” What a perfect example of the entitlement syndrome we’ve so often discussed here.

Just remember this video, next time you hear the HR3200 supporters try and tell you how many uninsured people we have in the United States. And in particular remember Faye Chow.

HATE.

Never Waste A Good Crisis….Um, I Mean Funeral

It was bad enough when Pelosi didn’t even give Kennedy’s death a few hours before attempting to use it to her own personal advantage and political agenda. That was sick – but expected, I suppose. And, I truly was going to just keep my mouth shut about this whole Ted Kennedy thing – but then I saw this video from his funeral, and I feel a bit compelled to say something.

This is kinda sick, you guys.

Using children and grandchildren to politicize a FUNERAL is, well, sleazy. Yep. I think sleazy is a better word.

If you’re a Kennedy, do you just learn to do this at a really super-early age? Or do the elders of the family treat you like a puppet, telling you exactly what to say in the name of politics?

The Kennedys – proving once again that money cannot buy class.

I think I need another shower this morning.

John Stossel Continues To Be Awesome

I couldn’t love this any more. And the lasik thing? PERFECT EXAMPLE of how a free market works. And this entire video? A perfect demonstration of how Health Savings Accounts could totally turn the current insurance industry upside down, in a positive way, and save a crapload of money for everyone.

But see – this is something that Republicans and people with Actual Brains support, and therefore Obama will ignore the idea altogether and continue to insist that rich people should just pay for everyone else’s care.

Brilliant.

Chris Matthew’s Man Crush Gets Creepy. Again.

So, I was just thinking about exactly when Obama’s people will file a restraining order against Matthews. It’s just a matter of time, really.

Holy creepy.

Well, Isn’t This Special?

Here’s a couple-days-old video of one of those “crazy right-wing extremist people” with a cop outside of that Moran townhall Mock and I wrote about last week.

I’ll go ahead and summarize the video for you:

1. If you don’t like Obama’s policies, please do not have signs that say so. Especially signs with a picture on it.
2. This is no longer America.

Glad we cleared that up.

Fairness Doctrine? Nope – Even WORSE.

This is freaking unbelievable, you guys. Private broadcasters are going to be required to FUND PUBLIC broadcasters??? Fining conservative radio stations and then giving those proceeds to liberal ones?

Soooo…again – the modus operandi of the liberal left – rewarding failure by punishing those who are successful. Brilliant.

And people still refuse to see the connection between Atlas Shrugged and today? Holy crap.

This Week’s Cage Match – Eric Holder Versus Dick “Badass” Cheney

In a Friday interview aired today, former VP Cheney said that the “Obama administration should be debriefing CIA interrogators about keeping the country safe rather than trying to punish them for doing their jobs.”

Here’s some of his interview:

You know what sucks as much as Obama and his crew not giving a rat’s patootey about me and my family’s safety from terrorists? The fact that these people who are being investigated have to hire their OWN lawyers to defend themselves. Most of these people make way under 100K a year, and they’re going to have to hire a lawyer to defend them at the tune of millions, I’d assume. I heard that trial lawyers are expensive. And, I’m quite positive that Obama and Holder know this….but that’s just a hunch.

So, these people – after doing their JOBS and putting their lives on the line in a lot of cases – for WAAAAY less money than the Obamas and the Eric Holders and the trial lawyers in the world (who were coincidentally kept safe by said people) – are basically going to be ruined both professionally AND fiscally, as they’ll more than likely be driven to bankruptcy because of this whole witch-hunt process. Lovely.

You know what may make me feel better about all this for about 2 minutes, though? Watching Dick and Eric in a cage match. Once again, the Pay-per-view proceeds could go toward something useful – this time, they would all go to the legal fees for the people being investigated and subsequently ruined (FOR DOING THEIR FREAKIN JOBS) by the current administration of total incompetent crybabies.

One minute tops is my bet. And I think those of you who know me know who my bet would be on…

The Ayn Rand Institute Weighs In On Obamacare

2009-08-29_121605

So, I’ve got about 200 pages left before I finish Rand’s total masterpiece of a book, Atlas Shrugged.  If you haven’t yet read it, you MUST.  The Ayn Rand Institute has been in touch with us chicks to offer articles of interest that we could share with you all, and they sent us this one yesterday.  It’s written by the president and executive director of the Institute, Dr. Yaron Brook.  We’ve talked about the notion of healthcare as a “right” or “entitlement” here at COTR before, and Dr. Brook’s article provides a bit more history on how that sense of entitlement was essentially created by government interventions, leading us to the mess we’re currently in.

It’s a great read!

Why Are We Moving Toward Socialized Medicine?

Government intervention in medicine is wrecking American health care. Nearly half of all spending on health care in America is already government spending. Yet President Obama’s “reforms” will only expand that intervention.

Prior to the government’s entrance into medicine, health care was regarded as a product to be traded voluntarily on a free market–no different from food, clothing, or any other important good or service. Medical providers competed to provide the best quality services at the lowest possible prices. Virtually all Americans could afford basic health care, while those few who could not were able to rely on abundant private charity.
Had this freedom been allowed to endure, Americans’ rising productivity would have afforded them better and better health care, just as, today, we buy better and more varied food and clothing than people did a century ago. There would be no crisis of affordability, as there isn’t for food or clothing.

But by the time Medicare and Medicaid were enacted in 1965, this view of health care as an economic product–for which each individual must assume responsibility–had given way to a view of health care as a “right,” an unearned “entitlement,” to be provided at others’ expense.

This entitlement mentality fueled the rise of our current third-party-payer system, a blend of government programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid, together with government-controlled employer-based health insurance (itself spawned by perverse tax incentives during the wage and price controls of World War II).

Obama Of Yesterday Doesn’t Agree With Obama Of Today

LOVE.

Obama Miiiiiight Want To Take Obama’s Advice

A clever and competent reader sent us this video of Obama sitting in judgment of George Bush and being his typical, arrogant self about it, and I so want someone to show it to Obama and say, “Dude – you might want to try and calm your crazy ’surrogates’ down now, before even MORE stupid stuff you’ve said in the past comes back to haunt you.”

Gawd.

Rep. Diane Watson Has A Crush On Fidel Castro

Rep Diane Watson (D-LA) not only repeats the same old, tired “Rush wants Obama to fail” liberal talking point nonsense, but she implies that people like Rush, who “want Obama to fail” have that wish because Obama is the first president to “look like her.”

Gawd. Is there a day that can possibly go by where Democrats don’t feel the need to bring up race as their main argument for everything every other second?

But Diane didn’t just play the race card and call out Rush Limbaugh (while simultaneously IGNORING the fact that people with Actual Brains know what Rush meant – which is that he wants Obama’s policies to fail because they’re bad for the country), but she also HEAPED praise on Fidel Castro. And I mean HEAPED.

And the worst part, is that the audience members CHEERED. They cheered for her praise of Fidel Castro. What in the holy hell?

We’re On Twitter Now!

2009-08-28_191626

I know.  I can’t believe it either.  But look!  We really are.

Here’s the thing.  We have absolutely no business being on Twitter, because we have absolutely no idea how to USE Twitter, but everyone’s been telling us, “You guys have to get on Twitter” and so because we’re obviously incapable of resisting peer pressure, we’re now on Twitter.   And you can “follow” our “tweets.”  <==  See what I did there?  I used Actual Twitter Terms

So, if you’re a tweeting twittering type – you should so totally follow us.  But be patient – we’re very very very new at this.

Cyber-BO Wants “Emergency Control of Internet.” AWESOME.

obama_cyber_security

This past spring, U.S. Senate bill was proposed that would give ultimate power to the White House to “disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.” You know, if they deemed it necessary and stuff.

Now, there’s a new, revised bill. Democrat Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia had his staffers draft S.773 all hush-hush, behind closed doors, and the now 55-page draft can actually be viewed (and doesn’t seem to be getting any rave reviews from the Internet Security Alliance, FYI).

The new version would allow the president to “declare a cybersecurity emergency” relating to “non-governmental” computer networks and do what’s necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for “cybersecurity professionals,” and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license.

The Internet Security Alliance has some pretty hefty board members, including bigwigs from Verizon, Verisign, Nortel, and Carnegie Mellon University – and they’re not getting on the bandwagon with the legislation yet, all because of its “vagueness.” (Wait – Democrats being vague? Nooooooooo.)

Now, I understand the legitimate threat of cyberattack and the need for cybersecurity. But it’s the vagueness and the “controversial language” of this bill that is a little, well, over-the-top from a Presidential power standpoint.

Apparently, beginning in Section 201, Obama will be able to “direct the national response to the cyber threat” if necessary for “the national defense and security.” And on top of that, The White House will do this “periodic mapping of private networks deemed to be critical” thing. Alrighty then. Aaaaand as a nice little dictatorial cherry on top, if Obama and his buddies so choose, the private sector companies will have to give up (I think they say “share” in the bill) information of the government’s choosing.

Out there in private-sector-cyber-land, they’re not so thrilled about this, as they believe it’s very “counterproductive.” They think that the new version is basically the old version, watered down and more “ambiguous.” In their minds, it’s void of specific processes from an administrative and review standpoint. Basically, it just gives Obama and pals sweeping power over private sector cyber-information. In their opinion, the vagueness translates to this:

“If your company is deemed “critical,” a new set of regulations kick in involving who you can hire, what information you must disclose, and when the government would exercise control over your computers or network.”

So, someone remind me again – we live in a free-market democracy still, right?

Charlie Rangel Loves Dealing With Taxes, Unless He Has To Pay Them. Then, Not So Much.

2009-08-28_140408

According to this, Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) left out a bunch of money he made on some financial disclosure forms he filed between 2002 and 2006.  Which pretty much defeats the purpose of a FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE.

And it’s not just a few bucks here and there.  Nope – Charlie failed to report as much as 1.3 MILLION DOLLARS according to recently updated records.   And that’s just the personal income.  He also left out another $3 million on other business transactions.

Keep in mind, this is a CHAIRMAN of the Ways and Means Committee, which has, among its other responsibilities, collecting taxes.   Chuck is currently being investigated by the House Ethics Committee.

This week, Rangel filed amended paperwork, which changed is 2004 earnings from a range between $4000 and $10,000 (in outside earnings) to a range between $118,000 and $1.04 million.  Yeah.  That’s slightly different.

Rangel was “off” by upwards of 117k in other reporting years.  2005 appears to be the only year that his outside income was legitimately reported.   And to top it all off, he owes back property taxes in New Jersey from FIFTEEN YEARS back.

Apparently, Democratic congressmen believe they’re not only exempt from the health plan they’d like to force on the rest of Americans, but they’re exempt from the taxes which will be required to pay for it, too.

WOW.

My dad sent me this video, which is kind of the rest of the story from Daisy’s post yesterday about Rep. Moran asking a consituent for ID before he allowed him to ask a question.

In THIS video, you get to actually hear the question, the UNBELIEVABLE response (given by Howard Dean and then confirmed by Moran), and you also get to hear Moran’s apology to the gentleman whose identity he questioned.

Perhaps Dean and Moran ARE being honest – in fact, I don’t doubt they are. But the fact that they just threw the entire Democratic Congress under the bus to do it is just mind-blowing to me. Not to mention that their answer to the question is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.

Apparently, the chain of command in our country is Congress, The President, and then Trial Lawyers. In that order.

Democrats Get Mad When Rush Limbaugh Is Right. This Is Why Democrats Are Always Mad.

2009-08-28_083701

According to this, the DNC got all upset back in March because Rush Limbaugh had the nerve to say that by the time the debate over Obama’s healthcare plan was over, it’d be called the Ted Kennedy Memorial Healthcare bill. They said, “It is outrageous to demonize a patriotic Senator who has spent his life fighting so that every person has the opportunity to live the American dreamTell Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele to denounce Rush Limbaugh once and for all.“

Aaaaand fast forward to now. Senator Robert Byrd says, “In his honor and as a tribute to his commitment to his ideals, let us stop the shouting and name calling and have a civilized debate on health care reform which I hope, when legislation has been signed into law, will bear his name for his commitment to insuring the health of every American.”

Plus, Nancy Pelosi is vowing to push through the legislation this year in honor of Ted Kennedy’s leadership and inspiration.  Because, you know, what better way to honor the death of someone charged with representing American people than to force through a bill that the majority of Americans don’t want?  Good job, Bob and Nancy.
