If you had any doubts, whatsoever, about what Obama’s plans are for healthcare in our country, then watch this all the way through. This is Obama (and others), IN THEIR OWN WORDS, about their real intentions.
All this crap that Obama is feeding everyone about allowing people to have a choice between their current employer based insurance and the “public option” is nonsense, and the proof is right here. IN HIS OWN WORDS.
Why do they keep calling it a public “option,” you guys? It’s not an option at all. It’s a plan DESIGNED to completely eliminate employer-based programs and drive private insurance companies out of business. The President himself is attempting to shove this down our throats in the most insidious, most deceptive way, and this video is pure evidence of that.
I can’t believe, frankly, that this isn’t being given more press. You know what needs to happen? This video needs to be played, in its entirety, by someone in the press corps at the next White House press briefing. And Robert Gibbs should be forced to address it without saying something completely lame like, “We’re going to let the process work itself through” which is his new standard answer to everything.
You guys – this is the time to be active and loud and write and call and harass the crap out of your representatives. And forward this to everyone you know.

I knew from the beginning that any proposal for health care reform was going to be socialized medicine wrapped in a pretty bow. Why? For one I understand the issue, and for another I pay attention and keep score. I hate to crow, but far too many Americans do not understand this issue or economics. It was government interference in the first place that started this problem, and it is continued interference that is increasing the problem. It is being done in the name of social justice, and in reality there really is no such thing as social justice. In order to give one person something, the government must take from another, because the government produces nothing of it’s own. Government cannot give what it does not have, so it must confiscate.
The drum beat for socialized medicine began in the 1920′s. It was further exacerbated when FDR implemented wage controls and again with Nixon. If employers want to stay in business they must have a competitive edge to keep employees…voila! Employer based health insurance was born. A vicious cycle was also born. Doctors over charged health insurance companies to make up for slow or no pay patients. Insurance low balled doctors prices because of it, and Medicare. Consumer/patients were taken completely out of the negotiations. The problem just got worse with the advent of Teddy Kennedy’s HMO’s vs. PPO’s. PPO’s have now been priced out of the market almost completely.

As one who in the past has crunched the numbers for a very prominent California city, I can tell you ERISA is an integral part of health insurance negotiations. If it is allowed to sunset, which it is by design in this bill, employers will one by one be forced to go on the government plan.
Our current batch of politicians lack courage. Yes, health insurance should be removed from the hands of unions and employers, but that doesn’t mean it should be given over to the government. We need to rip the band aid off. Reality is what people really need is catastrophic care and some sort of health savings account*. Then we need to get back to good old fashioned horse trading and negotiate prices with our physicians directly. I bet most people are clueless as to what their doctor charges for any procedure before hand. We need to force doctors to compete directly in the market place for business. The incentive to stay healthy will be cold hard cash, as in you won’t burn through it so fast. If people had to pay their own medical bills directly I guarantee you they would get healthy, and if they didn’t, this is America and you have the right to live and spend your money frivolously if you want to. At least that way others would not be penalized for YOUR bad behavior and choices.
Now as I type, waiting for my husband, I am sitting in a restaurant watching a very prominent liberal in politics eat Matzo Ball soup and slather a lot butter on bread. This is a liberal that was behind the soda tax, what can be served at executive lunches, and takes every opportunity to preach about junk food and making people conform to healthy eating. Hypocrite? You decide.
* I do not support health savings accounts in their current form. They don’t go far enough. Currently if the money saved in the account is not used, it gets confiscated and is subjected to income tax. Reality is people should be allowed to build those accounts over a life time, because the older we get the more care we need, and the more expensive it becomes. However, I do think this can be fixed easily with legislation.

Imagine if there was a video of Dick Cheney and the “neocons” plotting the Iraq war before 9/11 where they explained how they were going to make Halliburton and their buddies very rich. You think that would have gotten some play in the MSM?
