The ABC “ObamaCare Special” pretty much lived up to its hype. It was Obama basically talking in circles and not really saying anything of substance, using his rockstar status once again to convey shallow rhetoric and emotion instead of data and real freakin’ facts.
I’m shocked, too. I know.
This article clearly reviews the infomercial and its attempt to be what Diane Sawyer labeled as a “serious conversation.” Only it wasn’t a serious conversation, but instead an obvious staged townhall meeting, complete with 164 hand-picked audience members who conveniently, and on cue, complained about how healthcare really needs to be changed.
SO predictable. <YAWN>
Obama “faced no Republican critics of his proposals. The network also allowed him to dominate the program with long-winded and vague answers. Out of the 75 minutes the network dedicated over the two programs (commercials excluded), the president managed to take 60 percentof that time: 45 minutes to give 19 vague responses – not exactly the “dialogue” advertised by ABC.”
After Obama took four minutes and 33 seconds to answer a question about the notion of Big Brother-type care, Charlie Gibson apparently “pleaded with (him) to keep his response to the next question shorter.”
Hey Charlie – nice try in pretending to be a real journalist there.
And, then the toughest of the questions were saved until AFTER the initial broadcast (during the “Nightline” portion of the broadcast), of course, to an presumably smaller audience and local viewers.
After basking in his own voice for over an hour, Obama ended with the “optimistic” notion that healthcare reform is inevitable and it will get done, adding that “the stars are aligned” to get this done.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m personally relieved to know that he consulted his Cosmo Bedside Astrologer about the revamping of healthcare in this country…
It was him defending his plan. That’s it.
There was NO offer of an alternative. NONE.
It was very frustrating.
What plan? So far as I can tell it’s just throw more money at the problem. Yeah he wants to introduce government competition, but he already has that which is what scewed the market in the first place. It’s called MediCare, MedicAid, SCHIP…and the uninsured aren’t utilizing that to the degree they could.
You described the “event” perfectly, Daisy. Props to ya.
Obama sure did make it sound good. He’s a smooth salesmen. Anyone know if he promised magic bandaids for everyone’s boo-boos?
stars are aligned perfectly uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…….. yeah makes me think he isnt acting on his own but in behalf of someone or someone’s agenda…….
sorry didnt mean to add perfectly in there (is that a word even it sounds strange
I didn’t watch any of it but it sounds like ABC gave him his own TV show now. Only fitting since he’s such a Superstar and all.
He’s an arrogant ass who thinks he can get his sick agenda through before the general public figures him out. We need an adult in the White House! We don’t need a man that’s married to someone who has NEVER been proud of her country! What a disgrace to have these people in the White House. Just throw $$$, OUR MONEY THAT IS, out the window. It grows on trees, you know.
